/gets pedantic with the banker

The instant EFT is actually a system called FPS.

I did say faster payments system which is fps ;)

I thought bacs was the same, I stand corrected

faster payments (bacs). It's pretty much an instant EFT that all the banks support.
No escrow system though...

A common question asked is: are Bacs payments instant?

Neither Bacs Direct Credit nor Bacs Direct Debit payments are instant. The Bacs process works on a three-day cycle, so payments will arrive at the recipient’s bank account on the third business day after it was made, as long as it was submitted before the cut-off time on day one.
It doesnt really seem instant? How would I know that someone legit paid me if I only get funds in 3 days?

What would be the easiest/safest method of paying someone or receiving money lets say if I go buy a TV on Gumtree or if I sell an old phone on Marketplace? (except for cash)

Very few people will accept anything but cash on Gumtree, the only people selling not in person are quite likely going to be a scammer.

If you do use Marketplace or any of the selling forums most people will do Bank transfer or PayPal (usually Friends and family option).

I often use it to send money between my own accounts and often the receiving bank (Starling) usually pops up the received notification before the sending bank even confirms the transfer has gone through.
Awesome thanks @Dave @Sinbad

Went to go fetch my BRP in London today. It was KAK hot (Bloemfontein in December hot)

Underground & trains even more so.

Successful journey tho, got my BRP and opened my Monzo account.
