LOL - Wells Fargo gave me a limit on my debit card .......... Its MY cash, but I was limited to how much I can spend in the first year :)

The second bank I went to was Wells Fargo. The first one, a credit union actually, would only give me an ATM card. Wells Fargo also have me a secured credit card immediately . Now, Wells Fargo has my business 20 years later.
 
In response to Tman: don’t want to quote all that.
On the banking side I use Lloyds and am happy with the app, opening accounts etc hasn’t been a pain. Going into the bank is a non issue for me(small town friendly staff) and zero banking fees, instant transfers when buying is bliss. I’ve bought 3 cars and several bicycles in peoples driveways with no hesitance or delays. Paying, change of ownership and insurance all via apps or on websites.

Cheap labour is part of the societal issues I hated so cleaning my own place is no different, no change for us, but I get that it’s an adjustment for slave owners :) I joke of course.

Restaurants are expensive compared to buying ingredients and making a meal (for the same £13 Nando meal I can feed 4 easily from Tesco) but I’ve had some really good meals. Italian, Korean or even a local chippy. What’s English besides a chippy? :) Outside of spices you can get really good ingredients to make a meal yourself. Meat takes some time to find but you most certainly get good meat here.

With you on the stimulation. Magnificent place with amazing people. Don’t even feel foreign cause everyone else seem to be one too.

We had one incident of theft. Someone stole a bottle of milk from the front door. Only one of the 6, then returned the empty a couple of weeks later. Not even angry.
 
Also had an incident of theft the other day .... damn fox or something stole my 6 farm eggs. Just left 2 shells and a shredded box :laugh:
 
To those that immigrated, did you go there via a skilled worker visa or ancestral?

Is there anyone here who knows how to activate roaming services for Vodacom after they have left the country. I am locked out of my accounts that require OTP sent as an SMS to my phone. Since i've left the country I can't recieve the SMS's to authenticate stuff. This is especially important for my bank account since now I just realised I can't do online purchases.

Also try activating voice over WiFi if your phone supports it

Best would be to phone the callcentre. There should be a few options available.
 
What is the deal with financing a vehicle here?
A car allowance forms part of my package and while my jalopy isn’t problematic, I’d like to finance something nice to get around in but haven’t a clue how to go about checking if I’m even credit worthy.

Any tips or pointers appreciated.

ID the car you want to buy, go straight to a dealer for financing.

Banks wont help you.

Interest rates on car finance are probably not great at the moment.

Most dealers have an Fand I department that has relationships with various finance houses and they can give you the info you need.

Lots of options here including leases and pcp as well.

Get hold of the following apps and create accounts:
Credit karma
Clearscore
Experian

Each is tied to one of the credit agencies, use them to track your credit scores.
