Immigrating to the UK

I still have PTSD parking my car on the street overnight. The one and only time I ever parked a car on the street in ZA it wasn’t there in the morning and while that is hardly traumatic I still have this “will it be there in the morning” feeling.

Will still probably be where you parked it, but may not be whole:

13 out of 33,000,000 is decent odds, and that's just another reason to not drive a Vauxhall Corsa.

They like Toyotas, too:

Audis, Range Rovers and VWs, too:

Weird coming from SA where they’ll kill you to get the whole car. Over here they just take the bits they want with surgical precision.

Saw a clip recently where they basically stripped a Golf R to its chassis over a few nights. Owner’s first clip shows the wheels, front bumper and headlights missing. Comes back the next day and the interior is gone.

I drive a Corsa... looks like I will have to move down South. LOL.
I remind you that they steal the headlights from VWs back in SA in mere seconds.

Did you have to do police clearance, and if so, did you use something like Apostil? Thanks
Not on a skilled visa but needed police clearance and went directly to the CRC in Pretoria.

Yes I needed a police clearance and I did use an agency. I tried sorting it myself but the police lost my documentation in process. I received an update on it saying it was rejected from further processing due to non-payment (it was paid) something like four months after having originally applied and at that point I had already received my certificate via the agency.
It's blatant corruption to skip the queues, but when in Africa...

Thanks, that's exactly why I don't think I'll bother with the Police

Initially tried going to a local cop shop but none of them would even give me the time of day. “Person doing this is not in” etc. Done fingerprints at Pretoria central(don’t do this) and then directly to CRC. CRC actually works fine, it’s the disconnect from local stations getting it to CRC that is an issue. If you are not up for the PT use an agency.

Did you need it for the visa application, or is it a nice to have to prove you're not a criminal while abroad?

Has it snowed? They were forecasting snow up here from last night, all we got was rain this morning and blue skies this afternoon.
No, due tomorrow night/Wednesday morning when the warm front arrives from the south

Nothing in Manchester, just rain most of the morning and it's chilly. Drama for nothing.
