Immigrating to the UK

It's not a lot of effort to get the process started and can save a lot of admin/tears in the future (you have no idea how many "panic" posts there are on the FB groups of people who thought they didn't need it)

See...never gonna happen. Not exactly an unabridged document, but yet another thing somebody thought they'll never need.

Yeah that’s never going to happen.

Fortunately I’ve got plenty of time to sort out spousal visa requirements. Going to start gathering stuff once we back at month end.

I’d be interested to hear what you think of the prices of every day things here compared to the last time you visited.

Personally, I’m a little gobsmacked.

I’m in the UK now. Hotel charges £4.5 per pair of underwear or per pair of socks. Bloody hell.

My PCC took around 8 days, I used apostil.co.za, pricey but worth it - and I didn't even need it in the end. However, getting an apostle on the document is another story and seems to take 4+ weeks.

PCC is also tricky because it's only valid for 6 months, not really worth getting it unless you are ready to start the process imo

Was last in the UK end of 2021. The in-laws always go on about how expensive it is now.

Will see next weekend and report back.

Yes if you use a company like Apostil, depending on the amount you pay, they'll bribe the right guy and get the document sooner. Should be 7 weeks if you do it yourself.

But, 10 days from submission to getting it delivered overseas - the odds are against you.

You only need it for the first six months of your stay (in NL at least). After that you get the Dutch version (certificate of conduct).

This guy probably realised he can get a better job at a bank a couple of weeks after landing here.

@bwana you laugh but I used to think only a tool wears shorts and a sweater until I tried it. It’s damn near perfect.

Today may be the day the aircon comes out of storage

Literally just saw a couple walking by with their baby in a pushchair. Woman was wearing a summer dress, guy was wearing cap, sunglasses, t-shirt shorts and trainers - and a SUIT jacket.

Flight was smooth. Even with a 13 month old who slept all the way.

Just for Lyca sims. 100gb / unlimited calls and texts for £30. Can’t argue with that.

Nicely done! Welcome to Blighty! And you even got the standard “will it rain, won’t it rain?” weather upgrade bundle.
