Immigrating to the UK

We applied for our unabridged marriage certificate about 13 months ago.

We are still waiting for it...
Use an agency - takes 2-3 months to get marriage cert + your birth certs. Friend just left for NZ and did this.

Who did you guys use for assisting with pets?
Used Petwings from JHB > LON.

Was quite worried as we have a difficult dog. But in the end he walked out as if he was on a mini holiday. I think a direct flight makes a difference too depending on your final destination.

Think I did earlier in the thread but recap: a broken tail on one girl, an extra £800 for 'local transport ', no food or water bowls (almost killed themselves eating and drinking), couldn't walk properly for an hour or so and worst of all, 2 crates with 2 dogs caked with their own dried shyte head to toe.

To hell with that company and their costs for awful treatment of my babies
Oh yes, I recall. Thanks.

For those of you who took pets over to the UK - how difficult is it finding a home for them?

I’m told it’s near on impossible to bring pets over if you’re going to rent a property.

We were lucky - managed to buy a house before the animals arrived.

Yeah I saw the bill; not sure if it’s law or how many years it will take to have any real term affects.

My biggest worry is this. Everything else is manageable.

It's very area dependent for sure. Most areas are decent with regards pets though and definitely more and more landlords are ok with it. I don't even know anyone without pets

It's hard to say, depends on the animals. I'd imagine big dogs would be hard to find places for. Everywhere I've asked to rent has always said no pets or a single small dog.

Not sure about cats if that is what you have.

All of the above.

Our dog arrived just fine, very much the opposite. Which airline was it with?
