Immigrating to the UK

OK, so I've heard back from Doc Assist

Looks like they're quoting about R1200 for an expedited unabridged birth certificate with the expedited time of 6-8 weeks... still quite long but better than 6-8 months from DHA.

They can also do the apostilling for an additional R500 but that adds and additional 6-8 weeks (how does this differ if one does it through DIRCO yourself?) and after you pick up the doc from the DHA where it was originally ordered, you need to courier it to Doc Assist.

Is there any advantage doing the apostille with them - this seems to be the same length as doing it directly oneself?

The problem with DHA is that there are questions around its performance.
When I was doing my British passport I needed my mothers unabridged birth certificate.
She went to DHA and received it in 10 days.
But I can understand wanting to pay someone to get it done ASAP because you don't know if DHA are going to be amazing or ****.

FYI you dont need the apostelling for an ancestral visa application. Only UBC

I recently used Certificate Assist SA for my UBC. All I had to do was fill out the application form they sent me and send them a copy of my ID, I received it exactly two weeks later, no interaction with DHA at all. Cost me R1800 including the courier.

Thanks, the apostelling is a back-up in case this current offer doesn't work out as we're considering either UK or Netherlands (and it's required there it seems)

Is your entry into the UK dependant on the job offer?

My wife recieved notification that she has to go do biometrics for her British citizenship application so hopefully one step closer to her becoming a British citizen.

What's been her path to citizenship?

Going purely off mine, my family and a couple saffer friends experiences: once they ask you to come in for bio, it's final stages to being granted ...... unless some huge red flag pops on the bios.

Used Petwings from JHB > LON.

Was quite worried as we have a difficult dog. But in the end he walked out as if he was on a mini holiday. I think a direct flight makes a difference too depending on your final destination.

They have quoted me R100k for all animals. Which is slightly cheaper than Global Paws R250k…

"Slightly" :laugh:

They were quite good, I have an older dog (and we had some complications with paperwork at the last moment)

Yeah man 150k is “slightly” cheaper.

Glad your dog was transported without issue. Do they only do direct flights ? I don’t want the animals having any layovers.

The quote / estimation says Air Mauritius.
I assume they don’t go on the same flight as you and come a few days after?

Wife is concerned the animals will need to go into quarantine- which we want to avoid.
