No family or friends in South Africa that
are still your problem? No sense of duty to a country whose citizenship you retain, perhaps? Or that you spent a better part of your life in and have experienced the issues of?
Apologies for the preachiness, but it's a bit difficult for me to relate.
Hear! Hear!
If it's any help, the election will be held in London on a weekend. So, depending on where you are, relatively easy to take a train in and out the same day.
London's a three-hour drive for us, and we do it regularly enough for my husband's work that it's virtually second nature these days. Figure we'll make a weekend of it, drive through the Friday afternoon, stay at a hotel or B&B, vote, walk around, find one or two nice places to eat at, then bugger off back home on the Sunday.
It doesn't have to be a chore

Plus, it's only once every 5 years. Hardly end of the world!
But many kudos to the fellow voters <3
