Immigrating to the UK

The best part is that the locals here will complain that everything has gone down and its worse than it was.

Wife has a good mate who came out to SA last year (And due to come out again in March) - that said "Mate it's **** in the UK; why do you want to move there?"

She then experienced Load shedding and at that time, we had 3 days with no water. Needless to say she understood after that.

Guys that swapped their licenses...did you have to send in your BRP along with the application to prove your identity? The wording on the document is confusing
Yes, you’ll do a return envelope for your BRP so it is tracked. When changing address on it you send your license as proof of identity. That for me was more confusing. Post office folk will walk you through it.

Perspective. I do think “ours” is a little ****ed. :)

All online. You'll be able to check / prove your immigration statuses through an online portal.

Yup but this adds to the confusion, I don't have an UKVI account as I went through an agent for my visa...so I can't generate this specific code needed for the DVLA forms. I can do employer and rent checks online just fine. But seems like I'm going to have to call UKVI to figure out how to create an account.

Yes I get that - however, what ID will you send through to the DVLA when you swap your license? :D

I also hope their verification system doesn't go down - can you imagine the chaos at the borders

Do we need to do anything around the BRP before they 'expire' at the end of the year?

My frustration for today...
I have been using Starling for a year to send money back to SA for various things including maintenance.
Last month they asked for documents... so I sent them. This delayed the transfer by 4 days.
I again transferred from Starling to Capitec, and this time they want even more documents. Thankfully they had put the money back into my account so I have used Remitly after a friend suggested it.

You generate a code, from your UKVI account and add that to the form. But yea in @prod 's case I have no idea.

I'll be applying for the SWV myself (One day when the Defined CoS is issued) - so will have a UKVI account at least.

Flying back to SA this weekend, was wondering what cheap gifts I can take to my friends, and the only idea I came up with is to buy them some Terry's Chocolate Orange. That stuff is amazing

Haribo supermix stapled to a tenner :D

And come back with dish towels that absorb water.
