Immigrating to the UK

Yep, and they reckon the 700-ish Nigerian “nurses” they found who came in on fake qualifications is just the tip of the iceberg. It’s been going on for a very, very long time.
My missus is busy with an issue with one of her factory staff at the moment. He is on a “spousal” visa. Partner to a care worker. Has not even seen or visited her since arriving but paid for all costs.
Clearly an arrangement. Right?
Good worker, just used a unsavoury method of getting here.

Now we know why we need to provide 100 references, whatsapp messages, and 900 photos proving our relationship is real for our renewal. :)

Exactly why you cannot bring dependents over anymore. Think they changed this in March.

I eventually got a bit short with the agent we were using when I was applying as the dependant on my wife’s ancestry visa. He kept asking for more and more evidence of our relationship. I eventually understood the fact that it all goes to some nameless person at the Home Office who will never meet me, but who has to make a decision. So, a necessary evil.

Apparently the same rules don’t apply to everyone, though.

When the hell did Nigerians learn to make fake certificates?

/s

Oh it was hilarious when it all came out, because there was some massive thread on Twitter with hundreds of Africans (mostly Nigerian) commenting on the article that was posted. Basically the comments were along the lines of “who HASN’T written an exam for their aunty?!”

And then someone got pissy and crapped on everyone else for giving away their secrets.

But also unlikely that they would have a grandfather born in Leicester that would give them a pathway to entry into the UK.

What level is needed for a SWV?
My family and I didnt need to do any english test

So.. my passport is ready for collection. They made a decision.

4 workings days for it to be submitted. Decided and returned to VAC.

Don’t know if that’s good or bad. Guess I’ll find out tomorrow.
Definitely good.

I waited 3 weeks for mine >_<

Which could either mean they weren't sure about me or just busy :P

The VAC was empty. I was in an out within 20 mins. I think the new rules introduced in April means a lot less sponsorships happen now as salary threshold is now £38k min.

That or my application was refused in record time lol.

But this visa you either qualify or you dont. Unlike a visitor visa where it’s subjective.

Good luck! I was kakking myself because the Mrs had already been in the UK for six months, and mine also came through relatively quickly, though I don’t remember the exact length of time I waited (was 9 years ago). Sucks that the only time you actually know what your future looks like is the moment you open your passport and see the vignette (or don’t).

Yeah if it’s a refusal they give you a letter too, to explain. With a SWV I think they only refuse if you don’t qualify. If you were missing documentation they email and ask for such.

Unless you’re like this moron sho applied for a SWV and got this love letter back.

He is on Reddit now too complaining. But probably has a 10 year ban.

Lol what a numpty. And still complains about it.

Why would you lie about that?

Well their brother is a director of the company. Family can’t sponsor family for work visa. So I think they tried to hide this. Though they say they used an agent and agent did not fill in correct answers.

Good luck. I'm sure it will all go through fine. Will be a serious weight lifted.

Put a few beers in the fridge for the celebration.

Received a letter from UKVI this morning. Visa was approved!

They never send you a letter for visitor visa. So I was surprised. But I guess they need to give you extra info on pre-settlement visas. Like where to get BRP etc from.

Have 90 days to enter and need to collect my BRP within 10 days of getting there.

Huge relief! And the wife also has two job interviews lined up. One with an old company she used to work for before leaving the UK and it’s with an ex colleague she worked with there. So seems positive.

It’s all coming together now.
