Immigrating to the UK

What are these “BRPs” you speak of?

Biometric residence permits… it’s a migrant thing. Not something proper citizens need concern themselves with.

Anyone on a BRP that expires Dec. this year received an email about getting the eVisa yet? I haven't received anything so far

Doubt wife and I will receive them now (we naturalised earlier this year), but her work is already badgering her about her “work visa” that’s going to expire at the end of the year.

Nothing yet...
You do not need to wait for an invite anymore to create your UKVI and eVisa account.

Updated info on the government site.

Oh nice, they updated it today.

Stupid question but did you have to use your physical BRP card for an id verification (using the ID Check app)? Mine is currently sent away for exchanging my driver's licence so just wondering if I should wait until I get it back

Yip. They want you to authenticate with their app, which requires you to take a couple of pictures of the card.

Great, then I'll just wait till I get it back

Yeah the BRP has a chip in it. The app reads that info and you take photos of it.

I need to do this still. Do I just put money in the envelope and send it or do I go down to post office and ask them? 🤷‍♂️

Nah do not send cash, Post Office will help you do a post order, ie you pay there and they will put the slip in the envelope.

You can order the forms in the meantime and fill it in. Then just take it to the post office along with the things you need (if you can generate an "S" share code then you don't need to send your BRP with afaik). They also have the forms at the actual PO but it will be quicker to fill it out beforehand.

I did it last week, the bloke at the counter was definitely not the most helpful and seemed rather annoyed by me, maybe just a bad day 🤣

Or annoyed with the foreigners...

Spent a few hours getting the spousal visa requirements pages down to what is relevant to my specific case.
Down to only 5 pages (excluding list of documents and proofs, housing for kids etcetc).

Side note, Separation anxiety, high levels of general anxiety, depression, sleepless nights and emotional roller-coaster of what-ifs and absolute worst case scenarios flitting through my mind constantly.
If I were to try and explain this visa process in one word it would have to be torment, or possibly torture.
