Not available if you’re inside UK.

It’s expensive but worth it if you need quick service. Which I did as I didn’t want to wait weeks and delay stuff unnecessarily.

I wonder why they exclude spouse visas. It seems to be available for a whole list of other visas.

The option isn’t available contrary to what the site says I believe. I was only given super priority service. I know in SA I had both priority and super priority services.

Standard is up to an 8 week wait. Was not up for that.

No, you’re right, spouse visa isn’t on that list.

That was the worst for me. I applied after my Mrs (she’d already gone over to the UK), and had no idea whether or not I’d missed anything in the mountain if paperwork I’d submitted.

Agreed.

I hate the wait for that exact reason. What if I missed something or didn’t upload all docs etc etc.
 
Ok so kids Plane tickets booked.

Anyone else sent kids from SA to the UK that can help me with working out all the random paperwork and such they need?

Apparently need to sign consent forms and affidavits and so on:

We need to also fill in this form for each child (1 is 10 the other is 16) but it must be signed in front of a Home Affairs Official.

Just wondering if there are any other South Africans here that have gone through this process with one parent in SA and the other in the UK that could assist with a how to or step by step?

Daughter is 16 so BA should be fine with them traveling alone at least.

Yeah you need those forms and for both parents to give consent as well as copies of ids etc.

Are both kids traveling alone? When’s their flight? And how are you feeling about this milestone ? It’s been such a journey for you.

It doesn't. We used it last year when we sent our youngest to visit a grandparent. Just follow the instructions and include all the other crap they want like the unabridged birth certificates.

That is excellent news but since my wife is far away, how do I get her to sign it?

Yes, I got them a non stop flight to London and my wife will do the 4 hour drive each way to collect them.

I am too busy for feelings right now but suspect they will all hit at once on the drive home from the airport, kinda what happened when we dropped my wife off just without the kids in the car with me to keep me brave.

Isn’t this why you do it at home affairs who then notify the UK office where your missus will go and do her end of the documentation?
I’m at their offices next Thursday if you’d like me to enquire?

That would be excellent of you but as far as I am aware the UK office does not have much to do with it.

Both kids have UK and SA passports, this is just to get them onto the British Airways plane in SA as we have weird rules due to child trafficking.

If you do happen to remember to ask I would love to hear your feedback.
Short of it:

UK mom, SA dad, 2 children that are UK Citizens by descent.
10yo and 16yo
Will be flying from SA to UK to join up with mom.

I'll take a drive to home affairs next week with forms in hand and see what they have to say anyway.

Also my wife is in Wales and can't just drive to London every week so hopefully the office she must go to is closer than that.

I’m just collecting but will ask and pass on what they say.
If it were me, I’d get your missus to fill her bits in and sign, scan and send it across to you. Then you fill out the rest and take it with you to home affairs. Best case, they accept it, worst case they tell you what the correct process is.

Your missus is going to be so pleased to be with your kids again.

Why not email it, get her to sign it. Then take two copies to your local police station and ask them to certify it - That way, when they get to the airport, if the troll check and sees that it isn't a paper signature, you can always tell them it because you lost the original that your wife signed in SA and needed certified copies. Or something like that? Make the corruption/laziness work for you.

They can't certify copies without the signatories present.

Anyway - the form isn't an official document anyway, just a guideline. The only people who are going to look at it are the airline and border control.
