Yesterday I loaded R600 on my meter wallet and noticed it only loaded R540 into it, I gave the call centre a call and they said that a month back they started taking 10% from amounts payed in as an admin fee. Anyone else experiencing this or am I being screwed?

Take your complaint to Impact Meters... who exactly are they? Do you have to use them? Maybe go with someone more reputable?

You should have some sort of document you signed which indicated this?

From their website:

Two token purchase options are available:

Direct method - Through ABSA deposits or purchases at Impact offices. This option has a once off monthly administration fee of R15-00.
Indirect method – Unipin outlets eg. garage, Spar etc. This option has a 10% convenience fee deducted on total purchase for each transaction

I am somewhat late to this thread but I just moved to a complex served by Impact Meters and wondered if anyone else has experience the below:

I elected to purchase electricity through ABSA deposits to avoid the 10% service fee. My first purchase was @ R1.58/kwh but my second was at R1.75/kwh. I called Impact Meters to find out why there was a sudden increase in cost. Their response was that from 01/07/2015 they will be charging an additional 10% for each electricity purchase during the month. So my next purchase during this month would cost me R1.93/kwh.

Is this actually legal? Has anyone else experienced this?
