Who wants to know?
Im kinda new to the linux scene. I installed IMPI linux on my pc but cant seem to get into the KDE desktop. After booting up im only prompted for my username and password (this happens in the bash shell) and when i enter it it logs me in but im still in the bash shell. How do i get to the KDE desktop?

im not too sure about Impi...I know its South African. THing you gona struggle to get support with it. type "init 5" and see what happens

starts the X environment if you have changed to terminal mode...doubt it will work but maybe it will ;)

Do yourself a favour and give ubuntu a try.
http://www.ubuntu.com

I've been using it at work exclusively for the past couple of weeks - and we're a windows environment. :p

It's very easy to install - boots up on a live CD and then you can install from there, which allows you to browse the web etc, while the installer runs.

The ubuntu forums are brilliant as well - I've found resolutions to every issue I've encountered so far.
