Im due for an upgrade now and got the idea to maybe buy the phone oversees and import it like that. it costs like 4grand cheaper without import costs which is ALOT. and then you can take out a contract on the phone you already own. I thinks its a very good idea. What do you think guys? good idea or generaly risky?

I also explored this option. If you happy with not getting a warentee/guarentee on the phone. Then go for it.

If it comes from outside SA, Nokia SA sees it as a grey product. What worried me was, what if something needed fixing. Then i would have to pay to have it fixed.

At the end of the day, there has to be a trade-off between how much you save and how much it might cost to get it fixed. You could check reviews on how many duds there are, and how many issues people have and weigh that against how much you would save to see whether it would be feasible. Obviously if it's prone to issues, then it'll definitely be worth getting it here.

Ive read reviews on GSM Arena and all the people loves the phone. Just by looking at the price theres a few grand difference and that almost makes it feasable. the phone will have a guarantee but you will prob have to send it back the whole time. Wonder why Nokia would not support a handset comming from oversees...

Any recommended places when buying overseas? And whats the procedure if I may ask?
