Improving internet on your mobile phone

the problem is not so much the browser (although there is always room for improvement), but rather the pathetically slow data transfer speeds on the network. Surfing the net on my cellphone is about as rewarding as drinking a milkshake through a toothpick.

I'm looking for a Blackberry which will have the following features:
1. GPS Navigation
2. Voip Facility (or Fring)
3. Unlimited surfing and downloading
4. 3G(Optional)
Will you please suggest me which is the Best one on weekend contract.

This is bloody awesome! Just downloaded and tested on my ageing HTC (something-or-other), with only Edge connectivity. Works brilliantly and renders anything I threw at it with extreme accuracy.

If you want to view websites with no images (uses VERY little data) then opera mini is still far better

Skyfire is awesome! Never heard of it before, but very happy to have heard of it now. It works like a charm :)

Will the Blackberry curve 8520 support SIP calls(Voip calls) and does it have 3G facility?

Another significant advantage of skyfire, is that, due to the way that it works - i.e. via a proxy - you can use websites such as hulu and the google nexus one order form. It's like having a US proxy, without installing, or paying for one.

This test is fundamentally flawed as it is missing the best of the bunch - Opera Mini 5. Mini uses a remote server which decreases data transfer, thereby decreasing load time significantly!

I agree about Opera Mini 5. Just installed Skyfire and I must say I prefer Opera Mini 5 beta 2 - looks nicer :). Can't really differentiate between speeds.

In a SA context, both speed and rendering size is NB. At R2/mb (OOB) there is a big premium on decreasing data transfer.

Sorry for being off topic, but same target market could be interested in this news

BlackBerry ? You gotta be joking !
Is there really people that still gets excited from using a Windows 3.11 like interface ?

this is the first browser where i can say that i have gone to the normal youtube page and have been able to watch a video. Must add, youtube indicates it is not supporting the browser. Its great.

True that - they should really take a lesson from Apple in that regard. Would not hurt them either if they looked at Nokia to see how to build an efficient platform that is not too heavy on resources and can actually connect to all kinds of service without its own "special" APN. What a lot of B[-]i[/-]S

Blackberry is like a badge for posers that want to portray themselves as being something business like and something they haven't figured out just yet.
