Cell c have suddenly decided to disconnect me because they say I didn't rica my sim. I got an SMS stating it would be disconnected on 20 November. This is a joke cause I rica'd it long ago when I took out the contract Sometime in feb this year (it was the woosh 2gb data deal) . My sim would never have even worked in the 1st place if it wasn't rica'd

The rica deadline has also long since passed. How is it that they are only disconnecting people now?

Cell c rep on this forum please assist ASAP

I can't even call their customer care from my sim as it is blocked and I'm not dialing it from a non cell c phone and pay for their incompetence.

Just go down to the closest cellc shop with your ID and your water/lights account, and settle it there and then.

I use this sim for data only and I popped it in my phone today and got this stupid message.

I don't have time to go the shops tomorrow, will be busy with work etc and I don't think I should be running to their stores for their f ups.

I like how they don't even allow me to call their customer care from the sim. Bunch of morons

I had my CellC sim rica'd when I got the new phone in December last year. They also cut me off on 21st Nov, so I took the SIM to the services counter at Checkers Plumstead. She looked it up and said it had been registered on 17th December 2010. CellC said it hasn't. So I abandoned this one and got a SIM swap. The only way to sort it out it seems. Wait for hours talking to CellC who say "all calls are recorded" but are unable to look up calls made to them 2 days prior. They cannot answer why Checkers computer says it has been rica'd and theirs says it has not. Seemed a bit clueless to me and kept putting me on hold while they consulted someone else.

I registered for self service on their website, instead of showing my details shows someone else's details.

I just got a couple of strange SMS's on my RICA issue SIM, that is defiantly not for me, also they where send from numbers I dont even know.

I think there is more going on here than meets the eye, it might also explain the vanishing data from some people's 3G cards as seen in here: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...ft-over-on-databundle-vanished-just-like-that

Guys thanks for advice and links.

Elimentals did the cell c rep sort it for you or did you have to go in store?

I have messaged the rep.

I finally got hold of someone at Cell C that could sort me out, needed to send photo's of ID/Passport and Address, but I was lucky that I had other cards that they could check as well.

Best is to go into Store, unless you have a problem getting to one then I would say try and get hold of a rep.

Good luck.

I have a really tight deadline approaching end of this month so I was working overtime this whole weekend. Didn't get a chance to visit a store and the rep hasn't replied to my message that I sent on Friday so I've just laid a complaint on hellopeter.

So you never bothered to call them & you never bothered going to a store but you can whinge on hellopeter?

Haha. Did you even read the thread?

I have already explained why I have had no time to go to a store.

Previous posters have already mentioned how calling them was a waste of hours on the phone

I already messaged the rep and gave him 2 days but I've gotten no reply.

I'm perfectly entitled to whinge all I like. I paid for a service which I'm not getting.

Yeah i did read the thread - reps here try to be helpful but they aren't a call centre nor always around.

Explain to me how moving onto the next option after the previous one failed is called "whinging"

At least by publically talking about it I am letting people know that they can steer clear of cell c if they don't want their sim to be disconnected.
