Im thinking if getting this 2meg deal just to use in the day for browsing streaming music and youtube and the odd download like an attachment is this package good enough? ill do all my downloads on a vox account.
 
Works fine here,and at my parent's house. At that price give it a go and see how it works for you
 
i actually use both accounts u mentioned, but VOX for day to day browsing etc and IC for downloading during the evenings.
Get full line speeds at night @253kbps so im happy... during office hours it crawls tho

You mean 253KB/s? Seriously? I'm lucky if I reach 195KB/s on my 2Mb line, mostly get around 180KB/s.
 
Great account if you are only using the net between 5pm-8am.
 
I work on it during the day when I work from home - VPN etc. and works fine. At night I do P2P downloads between 23:00 and 06:00 = I do about 100GB in a month down. Youtube works fine anytime really.

Try manually setting it to G.dmt.

EDIT:

You should see the mode under your ADSL stats.

I don't have a choice and only have G.dmt limiting me to 4mb, I've been wishing for ADSL 2+ (10mb) since 2009.

Thanks for the info. I did that and the results seem positive. Here are the screenshots.

ADSL2+ (Turns out that this is how it was before):

Can't say I really notice a major difference in performance, both seem good, but G.dmt shows slightly better sync speeds. I'm testing it on Axxess's free 1GB account.

Should I stay on forced G.DMT then?

I'm no expert :p but I would leave it on G.dmt as I read somewhere it has more tolerance with noise on the line, and also of that sync rate that computes better with my eyes :D

You mentioned you could only DL @ 180kB, how is it now? My 4mb can DL @ 420, surely a 2mb can do 210?

Downloading Firefox Offline Installer as a test and speeds fluctuate between 176 and 215KB/s on G.DMT.

On ADSL2+ it fluctuates between 175 and 216KB/s, so pretty much no difference either way.

In both instances (Axxess Capped) I'd say the average is around 186-188KB/s.

EDIT:
On Incredible Uncapped I get between 121 an 166KB/s at the moment.

So no difference then, oh well.

What's that on? NNTP, P2P, HTTP?

EDIT: You sure you don't have intermittent congestion? Things never fluctuated for me after 5pm, but then I'm in dbn, things happen a bit slower in CT :p

Don't think so, fluctuations like that happen regardless of the time of day, week or weekend. Pretty much all the time. I thought it was normal. The tests I did was via Mozilla's FTP portal. With P2P I average 180KB/s at full speed probably due to overheads.
