Hi,

A friend bought this amazingly spaztastic product:
https://www.incredible.co.za/click-kids-tablet
(read the reviews listed for this product, WOW)

It is basically a standard android device with a custom gui installed as an app !!, if u get around the gui u have a standard android desktop with settings and google store etc. however the custom front-end is not listed as a startup app and i cant find it on the app list to delete (i am also guessing it will be considered a system app so i wont be able to unistall it anyway)

I would like to install a standard android version on this: hopefully that will fix most of the issues. However, which distro of android should i be looking at?? The tablet says assembled in china on the back, there is no manufacturer name, the webpage is a single flat page without any links or support or manuals or anything.

Any suggestions, advice, tutorials, dischords, irc's etc, i should look at??

What does this have to do with incredible connection being corrupt?

@backstreetboy
are u an employee of IC? ..... a shareholder perhaps?? what about an owner??
is there any reason for you take issue with word choice other than petty narrow minded bickering?

Do u have any information to contradict that statement, because i have seen first hand, i have friends who worked their part time, i have seen it with my own eyes, know what happens in those stores, do you??

#gasp#, #shock# actual information, knowledge and first hand experiance?? who can imagine it!!

@sumen
absolutely nothing.

incredible corruption (or indelible corruption) is a pretty common nick name for IC and they have spent over 20 years earning that moniker.

I typed over 150 words (i think? i stopped counting at 50) why has everyone apparently focused on only one? A word added ONLY for background information as well as to explain a link so that i dont have to type out 2000 hardware details of the tablet in question?

....
This site was started as a place for people to find solutions to ZA specific problems and I have found it helpful over the years, as has many other people, I believe. But no longer!

I don't like this forums' face lift, there's too much noise, too much fluff; it distracts people from the point and gives them airs. It is now, apparently, a place where people pick apart each others words, dismiss other peoples problems and pick fights rather than strive together to fix the wonderfully unique problems this country challenges us with.

SHAME ON YOU!
(over 130 people read this post and ignored the problem because of a single word that has nothing to do with them, before i submitted this reply)

Or maybe 130 people don't have any knowledge regarding this? Or hesitant to give out info without know what model tablet.

Also, If you root it, you can delete system applications. Your best bet would be the xda developers forum for more info.

Stop being so melodramatic.

Lol if that's the way you think, you in the wrong place.

They are a Steinhoff company...so the statement isn't really far off the mark. :)

OP surely the hardware model number etc is listed under about?

Just Google that.

Shame you folks are really nasty....and btw that store chain is corrupt in many aspects .You just got to dig deeper and you will find it.
ok on to the help.I came across a tablet like that a few years ago called a mItab for kids..Difficult to upgrade it but i am sure the folks at xda can give you a little more insite.First research a custom recovery, also try to get a apk of a program that can read your hardware.cpuZ might do the trick. Then from there you might find answers at xda or this fantastic place i used to call home for years.

I suggest you first activate usb debug, then we talk ok.

Download droidinfo from the app store and see if that gives you some more detailed hardware info. If you are lucky it's a rebrand of more well known entry level tablet then you can go to TWRP and search their database, maybe they have a version that works on your tablet. Once you have TWRP or similar up and running it's easy to mess around with different droid builds.

https://twrp.me/Devices/

I use CM13 (Cyanogen Mod) on my old Samsung S3 and is quite happy with it.

Edit: TWRP is a replacement for the default droid recovery console with added features. It allows you to install and or backup android.

Can't you just install a different launcher to bypass the "kids mode"?

Nova launcher is my favorite

Everyone I know refer to Incredible as Incredible Corruption. These days I just refer to them as 'empty'.

Lol, we walked past the shop dew days ago and my bro said he wants to show me something. We walked in, he looked at the PC, he looked at the price, he looks at me and says "sorry, I don't know what I was thinking , but these specs are crap."

We walked out.

Gaan praat k*k op 'n ander plek, ok

Well I have a stock pile of toilet paper to handout, BSers , the righteous and trolls are welcome.Whether it's incredible connection, corruption or infection or any other name to annoy fanboi's, lets annoy more fanboi's, samsuck, takeA"LOT, vodascum, emptyN, lets not for get the holy golden cow of all products and their followers called Isheeple.

So while you consider your self amusing, your trolling skills leave much to be desired.

Shame on you

As for the op, it's a good idea whenever you looking for assistance not to alienate the people you are asking help from, nor is there a written rule or obligation from any forum member to reply to a thread, especially the way you started the thread.

Opening the link I already see two problems.
MTK 83127 Dual Core Processor
512MB DDR Memory

It's a turd and shouldn't be touched in 2018. I don't get why in manufacturers think it's a great idea to make a cheap ass device and market it to kids? I'm looking at Google and all the ones marketed at kids have incredibly bad specs in this day and age.
Then again to be honest Android tablets aren't great, they died around 2013 and never really recovered as no OEM really has actually bothered. As even Google doesn't care to design the OS to work with tablets.
Found a bit more info on that device

https://www.satechhelp.co.za/20873/Clicktab7-kids-specifications

Not sure if it can help, but in all honesty, return it or burn it.
