Incredible Corruption

How is it Incredible Corruption's fault if they sold you a PC with Windows pre-installed, from the factory? IC, AFAIK, only sells brand name PC's, they don't pre-build them like Matrix Warehouse does. So the PC's all come with Windows pre-installed.

And, it's your fault if:
a) you wanted to save R2000 from the other PC's. You'll get the one with the cheapest Windows license one.
b) you don't know, or don't want to know, about alternatives like Linux / UNIX / FreeDOS / /etc
c) you wanted your PC this very instant and didn't feel like driving around for a better deal.

Hmm dont think I've ever had problem with the Incredible connection here they always seem helpful in PMB

Because obviously it is unreasonable for people to do some research of their own, when they plan to invest thousands of rands into a PC system.

RIGHT?!

Still today, people are hopelessly ignorant when it comes to PC's and I feel no remorse whatsoever.

How does someone without an internet connection, car or cellular contract achieve this?

She could have asked me but anyway, still corruption to sell this type of setup.
They are the backyard mechanics of the pc world. No integrity.

How about daily/Sunday newspapers, asking friends/family/complete strangers, making the effort to get to another store.....

PMB IC does suck, just by the way.

Its funny that both HiFi Corp and IC have the same problem of too many sales staff who circle like vultures trying to make a sale. I get that they dont get a basic salary, but I've actually decided to never go back to the HiFi Corp at Fourways Crossing because of it. I dont like being harrassed and I know I'm not the only one.

Its a pity they dont enforce a minimum level of PC and technology knowledge. 30 minutes of training once a day would make a world of difference for them.

They rely on impulse buying and pc-illiterate people to sell junk like that.

First, IC doesnt build it. They just sell it.
Second, sounds to me like this person should stay away from a PC to begin with. No phone?! No Cell?! No car?!
WHAT?! Does he/she live in a cave?!?!
There are plenty of people in direct contact with persons in their life, who could have offered reasonable advice, or pointed the person in the right direction - towards such a person.

This situation doesn't even apply.
The computer in question was quite obviously a PC under 4K total.
That being said, 2 of my friends work at different branches of IC. If this was just "sales vulturing", they would have pushed the buyer to buy a larger PC with a higher price-tag (and subsequently, better Windows). NOT a smaller PC with a smaller price-tag.

If anything, I imagine the buyer/OP was extremely stubborn towards the salesman's advice, because "OMG! BUT I WANT IT CHEAPER!!!"

I've seen plenty of these situations where everybody just loves jumping the "Corruption" bandwagon, when the actual wagon on the road is more likely to be the "Stupid as a wet brick" bandwagon.

It's like selling a car without an exhaust and calling it roadworthy. finish en klaar

Well yeah it doesnt have much to do with buying Win7 Starter but its a terrible business practice that puts customers, myself included, off.

If the customer had gone elsewhere they could have bought something else better for the same price.

When I finished matric in 2004 I worked at IC for one year only on weekends as a sales rep... Everyone I knew there were really nice, including the manager as well. "everybody knew their stuff on the shelf" I remembered that I was anxious to start working but the manager insisted, that I must learn everything before working on the floor. As the same with every other sales rep. Once, if you are confident enough she tests you with a paper with different consumables etc... if you know everything well and also know where they are located then you can start to work.

The IC I'm talking about was at the Centurion mall. As far as I can tell the only time I did actual stuff in the store was releasing the items and stock on the floor before opening the doors. The same goes after lock up... stock take was left to two people and it was changed randomly every week so that everyone could take part in it.

I made about 6k, only coming in on weekends for my first year... During the week its to quite to make sales, Sales really starts to take off from Vryday to Sunday about 2pm. thats 4 weekends from Vryday 2pm - to Sunday 5pm 6k :) easy money if you know your stuff. I never pushed the client. I tell them that I am available for enquiry and help and leave them alone. After a while they become interested in the in the product and approach me on the floor asking for assistance and continue the sale.

Back then in 2004 service was really great... But from What I am reading now it looks like it went drastically backwards...
They are not the same anymore with clients... It is truly sad.

Nokkie, I'm currently working for IC as a casual sales rep. Must say, I agree with you (even in this day and age), I don't push the customers and the sales reps are actually the opposite to what's been described, they're a little lasy :p . We often look at each other to see who will be the one to help.

I don't see how it is terrible business practice. He suggests bigger, you insist cheaper, he lets you have what you want.

Whats that favorite phrase that uneducated people fling around like hot feces?
"The customer is always right!"

Well no, 99% of the time, the customer is an idiot.

What bad experience did you have, cause they always help showing me where stuff is :P

I was recently harassed by somebody at iCorrupt....

I was just minding my own business, collecting a game.... ;) Then I went to look at some other products.... when a guy comes racing up, like he's trying to win a 100m sprint,,, he snatches my game like it's a baton in a relay race.... scribbles his sign on it, :erm: and before I can comment, whooosh, he's gone! :wtf:

If I'm browsing at IC and a salesman comes up to harass / help me, I just say "I'm waiting for the missus who's over in Dischem buying Tampax - so guess what kind of mood I'm in, Buddie..."

This tactic leaves me free to browse in peace...

So true. :)

Well, like a lot of other people, I am not comfortable being swamped upon by the commission-seeking vultures at the door, it's just not cool.

Then you get treated like you know nothing and they know everything, when mostly the opposite is true.

A family friend purchased a wireless keyboard there and they had issues with it, so I stepped in to help. Took over a month and some unpleasantness with the manager to finally get it sorted.

All it is good for is doing the touchy-feely things on a specific model that you may be interested in purchasing elsewhere.

You obviously didnt read my post. How about neither - he buys the big one online for the same price you were selling the small one.

Anyway, my complaint with IC isnt their prices, which everyone knows are high, but with their pushy salesmen.

But the thread is about some faker getting angry about their inlaw getting a sh** OS on a sh** PC from IC... to which I say: The customer was an idiot.
