Incredible Corruption

It's pretty much the same as buying a car. Everyone simply assumes a new cars includes a spare wheel, sunroof, electric windows, built-in radio (ok, now days most cars have factory fitted radios), mag wheels, etc. Yet, at the same time they don't want to pay more for the cars that include those but opt to buy the cheapest one on the floor. And then it's poor sales reps fault if they get home and and see there's not spare wheel or toolbox in the boot.

So why didn't the buy the other car, standing right next to it, which was more expensive and included all these options.

Last time I checked, IC had PC's with all the different Windows versions (excl. server) available. Those PC's come like that from the supplier. If your father in law wanted the R4K PC instead of the R6K PC, then it's his own fault. not IC's, or any other PC shop's fault

Well yeah it doesnt have much to do with buying Win7 Starter but its a terrible business practice that puts customers, myself included, off.

If the customer had gone elsewhere they could have bought something else better for the same price.

BS! Do yourself, and the rest of humanity a favor and drive to your nearest Incredible Connection. Then, closely, take a look and see that they do actually sells PC's with Windows 7 Premium as well. But you pay more for it. If you don't want to foot the bill, then don't blame the shop.

and again, a 1.

IC machines are on average 20 to 50% more expensive than many of their competitors with no advantage but "credit" (and that is not an advantage).
There after sales support is lacking, sales is average.

They're also inflexible when it comes to making chages to their packages. It's take it or leave it attitude.

I'd like to know if you have any evidence of that. It's easy to say that they are more expensive but without any actual price comparisons of identcial hardware from their competitors, that statement is pointless.

looking for a 32GB flash drive few years back. they wanted 1.8K for a kingston, I got it for R1K.
portable 1TB Seagate drives around the same time (I wanted 7), no discount for buying so much from them and they wanted R2k ea. I got em for R1200.
My dad's GF got a "demo" laptop from them, I priced a new one 20% cheaper than what she bought it for.

nuff said.

I go there if I want to look at a product, get the rip-off price they want and buy it elsewhere very often.
Dont even look at the shabby pc's they sell any more.
on occasion I will look at the laptop deals for shifts and giggles.

sometimes I find something to buy in the bargain bin (old games mostly).

N Type WiFi cards was going for about R 1 200 6 to 7 months ago by them. Got the same thing for R 600 from another shop. The same with th WiFi dongles. they wanted R 800 for a N Type dongle and got the same one for R 349 from another dealer.

I must add that their LCD screens is not badly priced. Few rand more or the same as other places and the after sales service I had when my screen had a problem was not to shabby as well and that was over the end of December.

One thing that they do lack i.m.o. is skilled sales staff. If you start throwing terminology at them you time and again get the 1000 mile stare and have to start explaining exactly what this item/component does before they catch on.

On friday I got R2500 printer for R1299, cause it was missprinted in the specials and in the shop :).

Came with wireless and lan built in

As AstroTurf says, for the price of a Win7 Starter machine they could have probably got a Win7 Premium machine elsewhere. Its not BS, they overcharge grossly. Its even worse on components like graphics cards. They sell 4 year old cards for R2000.

EDIT: To clarify, thats not exactly what AstroTurf said, but he does point out that IC routinely overcharges by about 50%. Easily enough to turn a Win7 Starter machine into a Win7 Home Premium machine.

Yes, I know the majority of IT consumers just dont have a clue, and they also want to spend as little as possible. The question, could they get better service and kit from another company, and the answer is they most certainly could. As has been pointed out, IC sales and service is often rather bad, and their prices are high.

Everyone knows that they are overpriced unless they have those good specials running. It's not IC's fault that the buyer was too lazy to shop elsewhere. If you don't want to put time in to look elsewhere, expect to be burnt and don't expect sympathy from anyone. Why should they charge less if people are willing to buy it from them? That's business

I myself am quite happy with them. Bought an external LG dvd writer from them for R399 which was used (not good business), they swapped it for a new samsung one that was R799 to apologize. Also just bought 3 x 2TB externals and a printer on special cheaper then any other place around

Incredible Connection prices should be compared to places like Game, Dion Wired, Makro etc. Not a shop that has nothing on the shelf but "can order one for you". Also, if someone can buy from Rectron, Esquire etc. then don't compare those prices to Incredible Connection as well. It's like comparing Woolworths to someone selling fruit on the street: because you can get an apple cheaper on the street that at Woolworths does not mean that the two sellers are comparable.
