Incredible owner's massive failure

Nearly four years after launching with millions of rand in investment, online store Everyshop has completely fallen off the South African e-commerce map.

Rolled out in April 2021, Everyshop was intended retail company JD Group's big push into becoming a more prominent e-commerce player.

Amazon is probably next. What a POS app and return process. If you want to return something, they expect you to take the items to the courier and Amazon will reimburse you. No way you are going to compete against Takealot with BS like this....

This was the site that wanted your ID# to sign up? Pretty sure that was the case early on and I just shrugged and moved on.

The only place worse than amazon.co.za is...

Hmmm cant think of another place right now

Never tried everyshop

Pity. Everyshop used to have the best pricing when it came to MS365 licencing.

Have you used Makro Online? Worst experience ever.

Have not needed to return Amazon products yet.

I have ordered from Makro, unfortunately. I ordered a stuffed animal + a few other items for Christmas, only to have each item delivered individually. I do not understand how Makro can make money by delivering me a can of cat food on Monday, followed by a 3kg bag of nibbles on Tuesday etc. And the stuffed animal I received (2 weeks later) was the wrong item. (toddler wanted a talking Po teletubby, she did not receive a TALKING Po) I did not bother to return it. I have also not used them again nor will I.

Amazon one would just imagine to have a flawless app and processes in place, I mean they are the biggest online retailer in the world. Just copy whatever they are doing in other countries. That said, I have no idea if people in other countries also have to jump through hoops to get an item replaced. As I understand this item I'm having trouble with was advertised on Amazon but sold via another party. I have no idea how this works nor do I give a flying fck. They sold the item on their platform and now the 3rd party is refusing to collect the wrong item they sent me, and Amazon is not being very helpful.

Takealot has its flaws and I have received multiple wrong items. But never had any trouble returning anything, so going forward, I will stick with them, even if they are a little more expensive sometimes.

That was not my experience with an Amazon.co.za return. Logged it via their website, selected the courier pick up option and got my refund the same day it was returned. Mind you this was a product they sold and not a 3rd party sale.

Same here. I've switched the majority of my online shopping to Amazon where possible because their service has been so good.

I was not even aware it's a 3rd party sale, It was listed on the portal so I bought it. Only with this returns nonsense did I find out it was sold via a 3rd party. But a lesson was learned.

PS. I have bought a few things via amazon. Delivery is fast and actually quite brilliant. Everything I ordered for Christmas I got the next day, Most things were way faster than takealot.
It was only this one return that has now left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Also had excellent service from them. I guess the takeaway from this is if it is sold by them then there's no issue, if it's a 3rd party you need think a little before clicking that buy button.

Had no issues returning an item to Amazon. Returned via the Pargo option. But this was an item fulfilled by Amazon and not third party.

Everyshop was the only SA online store that had items only available in certain regions.

What's worse is that they would only tell you this once you attempt to check out with the item.

Insult to injury, they wouldn't even tell you in which regions said item was available.

So I'm really not surprised they tanked.

I got brain rot from the headline.
