Indoor IP/WiFi Camera Recommendations

I also have 3 Wyze cams and I'm relatively satisfied with them. We use the Wyze cam as a baby monitor, and it is particularly convenient to take it off and snap it to a closet's metal doorframe when the baby stays at grandma. Camera is shared with her and we can also log in wherever we are with the same app.

That being said... I also have 7 hikvision wired cameras, and the quality and speed compared to the Wyze cam is just something completely different. They open up instantly, the quality is superior and I never get unstable network issues.

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll take a better look at them when I get a chance, the Sonoff popped u pas an idea as I am looking at running a few Sonoff switches for some lights and the HikVision because I already have a HikVision NVR with four outdoor IP cameras that I will be adding to in the future. We are looking at using the indoor cameras to monitor our dogs and potentially as a baby/nanny monitor so keen on them being WiFi but I will not be routing footage via China, I will have it setup like our HikVision NVR.

The sonoff have RSTP so you could route them to your NVR as well.

Pitty they don't have onvif yet, hopefully that comes.

Sonoff doesn't route via China thought, I've had these cameras on Wireshark forever. (record to SD, the only gripe I have is that I need to take the card out to download the footage, that's super stupid and might be a turn off for most.)
 
I am 100% satisfied with the HiKVision IP cameras, an NVR and viewing over the network. Easy to set up and never fallen over once

The surveillance HDD failed after 2 years and was replaced under warranty (Sensor Security)

I set mine up outside under the carport, not really where it is supposed to be but it does the job.
Quality is great, works with the Ezviz app, downloads to cloud or SD Card.

Good to hear I can get the Sonoff linked to my HikVision NVR, it would mean less hassle with multiple apps and I can leave my current setup largely untouched for accessing the cameras when no tat home. I am looking for WiFi enabled so that I can put them anywhere and we can travel with them, I love the HikVision IP cameras I have but they are permanently in place with CAT5E run to each, something I want to avoid for indoor cameras
 
OK, if you want to integrate it into an existing NVR, then I would stay away from the Wyze cams.

They're great cheap little cams, but the RTSP firmware is pretty buggy.

You get Hikvision cams with Wifi, but I have honestly never seen one of those before in SA. The EZVIZ cameras are not bad (essentially a simpler Hikvision) and do come with Wifi in SA.

the EZviz cameras (a sister company of Hikvision) has some lovely wifi cams. I use about 3 of them on my 16 camera Hikvision setup...

That does look quite good! Our biggest problem when we installed it at my in-laws was Wifi signal strength and thus image quality suffered. But I guess you have a strong signal at the cam?
 
Why would anyone have cameras inside their house? The only secure network is one not connected to the internet. I certainly would not want to have myself livestreamed having sex on my living room couch. And I know a fair bit about networking :thumbsdown:
 
My suggestion is:

Cloudless:
Sonoff + Zoneminder with a simple 5 gig usb to record and cycle.

Then again if you use Zoneminder you can use 98% of the IP camera's out there so their apps don't matter, better yet Zoneminder Has RSTP so if your camera doesn't support have it you can output RSTP for other uses like say Home Assistant and such.

In the cloud:
If you don't want to record your own footage in-house, the other option is Wyse cams that give some storage for free without sub for cloud recording.

Can view the lounge, front door, open plan kitchen and braai room door from this cam. Can rotate 360 degrees. Good quality video and night vision. And a big plus: The app is good. (Many times the camera is good but the app sucks.) Recommended.

The Sonoff GK-200MP2-B looks to be a great choice and I can integrate it with my HikVision NVR using RTSP from the research I have done. @AlphaJohn - I see robofactory has them at R690 but they are out of stock, takealot has them for R835, know of anywhere else reliable with good pricing?
