Induction Hob Problems?

We recently brought a new 4-plate DEFY Induction Hob. We where super excited to use it, and it seemed to work perfectly at first. But then we discovered a problem. If we use 2 or more of the plates at a time, the Hob starts to lower the temperature of all the plates.
This happens after a ramdom amount of time, sometimes we can use it for 1 hour, sometimes it starts giving us problems after 10 min.
It is really annoying when we, say for instance, cook rice and fry chicken at the same time, as it lowers the power to the rice zone (as well as the zone we are frying the chicken on) and then the rice bearly cooks anymore (the water almost completely stops boiling even thought the plate is on a high "8" (out of 9) setting).
Even if we then turn off all other plates, it still has the problem. The only thing that helps is if we let the hob 'rest' for a while.

We have done a lot of research before we considered buying induction, but we have not seen others having/complaining about such a problem. Is it normal for the hob to behave in such a manner, or what may be the problem.

Thanks in advance for any help.

The root of the problem is stated in your first sentence - "DEFY" :sneaky: Using an AEG induction hob and have not had any issues.

Have you read the user manual? Some induction hobs cannot run multiple plates on max power at the same time.

The manual says nothing about not allowing multiple plate usage. The problem also only starts after a while. At first, all the plates work fine together, the problem only starts after a while

I have an aeg it's a beast of a unit and mine does the same. It has 15 power settings and only does this if 2 or more are on max. If not on max then no issues at all but it does drop both to say 12 if they were both on 15

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately our hob does not indicate that the setting lowered (it still indicates the high setting). And it sometimes happens even on medium settings. According to the manual it is the Overheating protection. But sometimes it starts with this problem within 10 min, which almost makes it impossible to cook. Even if we turn off the all the other plates, it still gives problems

An electrician, could it maybe be installed incorrectly?
It's a possibility but as long as its an electrician then it should be fine. Give defy a call ASAP though may be a faulty unit.
