There is a rumor that developer Infinity Ward is not creating Modern Warfare 3, and is instead working on something "completely new"!

It’s unclear where the third game will be made if IW really has gone AWOL from the series.

We were told by one dev source that a Canadian studio was handling it, but another pointed to newly-formed Sledgehammer Games, headed by ex-Visceral bosses Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey.

Sledgehammer, based in the Bay Area, is currently recruiting for a multiplayer designer with “five years experience working on current AAA multiplayer shooters for current consoles and PC.”

The identity of Sledgehammer’s first project is yet to be announced. Activision’s only Canadian developer is Vancouver-based Radical Entertainment, the studio behind last year’s free-roaming adventure, Prototype.

Rumour surrounding the Call of Duty franchise in general is escalating. A report yesterday claimed that Treyarch is currently putting together a story-focused, Vietnam-based episode in the series for release later this year.

Oh no man! WTF!

Lets hope its just a fake rumor... I mean, I really want to get rid of Makarov,, The Airport stage in MW2 :erm:

It's ok let them develop new IPs - we need more innovation, less recycling ideas. Not that MW2 was recycled but ykwim. I trust their judgement.

hmmm.... what about Call Of Duty: South African Police?

You get to play as hijackers, and bank robbers, and as a trigger happy police officer ;), Officer Van De Vrot ;)

One year development time for a new Modern Warfare game would be dump...
There needs to be at least 2 years between each title so if there's gonna be another installment it would come at earliest end of 2011.

I bet the rumour has to do with the idiot head of Activision.

Before the merger with Blizzrd, and his promotion, everything was awesome.

Man. What one d1ckhe@d can do to a company...

i hope infinity ward leaves activision for a better company that wont tie them at the wrists. then they can start something new

Yeah I guess if your the op fprce you can get a 25 killstreak and BRIBE the SA police and th match will be over
