Inflation falls for third month in a row

So someone on my FB said its consumer inflation meaning spending and not actual normal inflation meaning price of goods?

Consumer inflation is not spending.

Spending is sales growth of GDP depending on the context (countrywide or per industry).

Inflation is inflation meaning CPI.

Someone on your FB is a moron and should rather keep quiet about what they don't know. (please tell them that and if they want a private discussion on why, let me know)

Ok I am by no means an expert just saying what he said, I thought it was wrong.
definition :A consumer price index (CPI) measures changes in the price level of market basket of consumer goods and services purchased by households. ... The annual percentage change in a CPI is used as a measure of inflation.

Meaning prices of goods came down?
Right?

no, I take it you never did calculus at school, the rate of change came down (second derivative), but its still positive

only deflation will result in prices falling, inflation always will result in an increase in prices

It means the rate of increase is going down.

It’s going up by 5% instead of 6% last year for example.

And here I am hoping for a rate hike. We need to push all those over indebted off the edge to get the economy going again. This slow downward spiral is boring.

Owning poultry and/or horses /any farmyard animals = tons of flies
You spend all your money on control methods but these don't work

I find chickens normally very good at keeping insects down. And they make excellent compost.

Signs of a dying economy.

I would take a guess that you didn’t major in macro economy...

Quick lesson:

“Today, most economists favor a low and steady rate of inflation. Low (as opposed to zero or negative) inflation reduces the severity of economic recessions by enabling the labor market to adjust more quickly in a downturn, and reduces the risk that a liquidity trap prevents monetary policy from stabilizing the economy”

Nope. prices just didn't increase that much.

Inflation is generally due to 2 things, demand (from consumers) or input cost increases (how much is costs to manufacture compared to before).

Consumer demand is low, see the near daily updates about low car sales volumes and articles like this
Things are (very) bad out there
https://www.moneyweb.co.za/moneyweb-opinion/columnists/things-are-very-bad-out-there/

Input cost increase, due to higher electricity prices and higher fuel prices and striking workers and drought and and and, have been the mail reason for inflation over the past few years.

the more sophisticated amongst us would say that's not inflation, since the curves are shifting

inflation is primarily a monetary phenomenon

Hahaha, consumer demand will just dry up even more and the economy will shrink some more, retrenchments and business closures will abound, crime will increase even more... enjoy that dream rietrot.

I have the yard space. Built a serious caged off area:

9 Gum poles
2 layer fence with airgap - Outward facing is 2.5mm with 50mmx90mm arpetures, inside is birdmesh (small holes )
Wooden gate door
Going to be putting m200 all around the base of the fence to prevent digging, good luck to my dogs. Already had monkeys lying on top ( roofed the top with fencing as well because I know those f***kers are gonna try steal my eggs!

I have a camp I keep the sheep in at night. About 7 feet high. Just not sure if it will keep the chickens in there or not. Camp is big, probably the size of a normal yard in town. So I don't think they will try get out right? Maybe I should buy a few and see :o

Delivers 10 Unos... Thanx saturnz, good trade!

so anyway inflation comes mostly from the demand and supply of currency, if you print more money, you get more inflation, what you discussed are more price "shocks"

that's the theory, we are still waiting for that to happen in the major economies where they are increasing money supply at alarming rates

nope, a price can be anything

for example, if I want a 10 cars for my house, the 10 cars is my price

But you’ll still declare it to SARS in rands, therefore it’s price is a monetary value. It always comes back to a Rand price.

it may have a monetary value attached to it, but my price is still 10 cars.

SARS does not change that fact

so if you attached a rand value to the 10 cars and rocked up with the cash, I would not accept it
