Hi folks

Just a short note to inform you that I had a short, informal meeting with Mr. Xolisa Vapi, Media Relations at Telkom, earlier today. I was invited to this meeting by Mr. Vapi (his initiative), which is a step in the right direction. Nothing significant was discussed, but the meeting was very positive and he looks keen to establish a working relationship with MyADSL. My main aim with this meeting was to establish a communication channel through which we can address the concerns and questions from our members. If the positive progress continue I will also try to set up a formal meeting were our concerns can be tabled and where we can feedback from Telkom. As usual I will keep you informed about any progress.

Comments are welcome.

Regards,

RPM

His initiative..? Hmm.. sorry, but I can't help wonder why? They have proven time and time (and time and....) again that there is not a single good bone in their collective bodies.. Period.

I think this is a very positive step.

Kudos to you rpm and this forum for making a big parastatal take some notice of genuine concerns.

With enthusiasm anything is possible!

I think as soon as Telkom starts looking at pricing of its products most of the users of MyAdsl will be very very satisfied with the service...I've had bad expriences with Iburst and Sentech my only gripe with telkom atm is price...

It's definately a good sign, but the fact is, our concerns are so obvious they are shared by the entire country.

Telkoms services are too expensive.

That's the starting point for any initiative by Telkom - make your services cheaper.

How much more simple and direct a message do they need ?

telkom will not respond publicly. They were pretty much forced to at the ICASA hearings, and now you want them to respond to this forum where over 99% of the members are unhappy with them.

I hope it works anyways

Yes, it's a step in the right direction IF they do indeed keep the communication channel open. They weren't interested in communicating with us two years ago. Not much came out of those first meetings you had with Mr White (lies). So, lets just hope things will now improve.

do you like to dance with the devil in the pale moon light?

I suggest we arm ourselves just in case....

Batmen away!

I think this is just a publicity stunt by telskum.. they will eventually be quoted in the media that they have had discussions with the myadsl forum and this will be a positive spin for them as the rest of the people believe they are actually trying to improve service when in actually fact it is nothing more than a delaying tactic. I would not trust them rpm. So please becareful when dealing with them, I am 100% certain they have something up their sleeves :)

Its seems like progress...telscum inviting rpm to an "informal" meeting

But then it could just be (like lilgindauk said) a time inwhich they could p.i.m.p themselves

:D

Telkom claims that they have a relationship with this forum anyway, even though we know its another fallacy of theirs. Check the Icasa transcripts, or one of my older threads here about the transcripts, where I quoted what Telkom said at the Icasa hearings. I think any contact is a good idea, rpm is smart enough to know how to play his cards.

Ahhh ... at long last some constructive progress after all the hot air that gets expelled here so frequently.

Okay ... you deserve that entry in wikipedia ;).

Definately.

You also have to be careful about bashing representatives of an organisation.
We all bash Telkom, as a single entity - a monolithic beast - we do consider it "evil", in the same way as people deride any huge corporation, however, it doesn't mean that things cannot change and it also doesn't mean that all the representatives are neccessarily just "tools" of the corporation.

For all we know, Mr. Xolisa Vapi may be putting pressure on his bosses to attend to the massive dissatisfaction level of Telkom customers.

After all, Telkom is aware that their monopoly won't last forever, so perhaps it's time to address the issues at hand !

If it were just a few hundred MyADSL participants who were dissapointed with Telkom, there wouldn't be an issue, but the simple fact is, virtually every single person who makes use of Telkoms services are dissatisfied and many of them are angry.

Spend just 10 minutes in any Telkom queue anywhere in the country and someone will fly off the handle in frustration.

Mr. Xolisa Vapi, the country is not happy with Telkom - time to start the change and address your customers needs !

I'm sitting here with baited breath hoping that Telkom is trying to turn over a new leaf, though i've (we all have actually) been bitten one time to many

OK, Enough of the cliche's already Telkom is all the monopolistic cliche we need in our lives.. BUT...

RPM I really am sitting here holding thumbs... Though if I could suggest one thing... Use that record function on your cell phone if it has one, or get a dictaphone and record it all... At least that way they can claim.. "BUT we told RPM about it in the "informal" meeting, and he said we said, etc

Its an excellent step in the right direction. Infact thats means the are seeing us as a threat, which is a good thing!!! Otherwise they would have never talked to us...

And again..excellent job!! Credits to RPM!!!
