I'm very new to Linux so I'm struggling a bit.
I have Linux mint running for my media server and for some reason if I have a rar file bigger than 8gig it takes ages to extract. So I thought ill fix the issue. The server has been running stable for well over a month until I went and tried to fix the rar issue. Now for some reason, my one HDD is giving me an input-out error. I cannot copy from it I cannot copy to it. I dunno where to start with this error. I have been looking on google for well over a week but everything I try to fail. Can anyone please point me in the right direction or help me out, please

Good day @RoCkFoRdGuN
I think you will receive more in depth advise if you can provide more details regarding your issue.
A few points below:

for some reason if I have a rar file bigger than 8gig it takes ages to extract.
Could this be related to your server's resources, ie type of CPU and mem allocated? (Best to monitor when extracting)
Which filesystem types are you using? (You can check from terminal, run: lsblk -f)

until I went and tried to fix the rar issue.
What exactly did you change? If changes were made from terminal, perhaps you could run the history command and advise.

I dunno where to start with this error.
Have you checked the server logs such as at /var/log/messages ?

Providing this information may be a good start, hope you get your issue resolved soon.
Kind Regards

I got it fixed thx guys
So I couldnt get it resolved on Linux went over to the windows machine.
Copied everything over to a external. Installed back into the linux machine and formatted everything and made a linux partiton. Copied everything back no errors. Just tested on nzbget unrar is working like a charm now 8 min on a 8gig file. no errors at all
