Hi

Before I go spend R400 at game for a 2x4 multiswitch, I just wanna make sure its the correct thing.

I live in a complex that supplies 2 dstv wires. I have got my hands on a 4p decoder to borrow for two weeks for the Australian Open (tennis) towards the end of this month.

I assume I have to install this multiswitch to get things up and running?

I need to be able to watch hd, and record said hd channel while I am sleeping

Am I on the right path?

You only need a multi-switch for multiple viewing environments. If you're connecting to only one decoder, which I sounds like, you won't need it.

Edit : ah you said the 4p decoder. Not sure in that case :o

so even though there are 4 inputs on the back of this decoder, and I only have two wires with signal, you telling me I am fine??

Most definitely he does need it. But R400 is too expensive. Go along to Space TV in Woodstock and get it there. You will have to make up 4 flyleads, so get some f-connectors too

He does need it, effectively twin LNB into 2x4 multiswitch to give 4 inputs to a 4 tuner decoder

Yes I know he needs it for all functionality. Thought for one viewing and one recording environment he might not need to use all tuners.

If he attaches the 2 cables to tuners 1 and 3, then on some channels he could record, but it is a bit iffy

Its more than a bit iffy...

for the 4tuner to work properly, you need to populate all 4 tuners.

He is trying to save money. If it were me, I would give it a go without the multiswitch and see what transpires. On some channels it will work

That's what I thought. He might as well try it before buying the switch.

He only wants it for the tennis so he really doesn't need a TV guide. Or he can use the Dstv app for the guide :D

R400? You are getting ripped

The 2x4 Multiswitch will connect 2 x HD-PVR 2Ps or a Single Quad Tuner Decoder to a Dual LNB

At that price I would not hesitate. Just get it, + 8 f-connectors and away you go

OK so I only saw this after I got back from game...

Everything up and running except I managed to over tighten tuner 2 and broke the connector

Before I broke it I noticed that tuner 2 was about 40 percent strength where all the rest were 100.

Maybe that had something to do with the reason I couldn't pause some channels

Gonna get some more connectors tomorrow
