Do the gas heaters also provide continuous hot water?

The gas heaters have a direct flame onto a copper coil with water running through the coil.
As long as the flame is burning you will have hot water.

Yes. Very hot water.

Where are the heaters kept? I don't understand why the gas ones have a capacity though. Does it heat the water and store it in a tank rather than as it passes through?

You get a device that you put next to your shower/bath. It goes on the wall.

You switch it on, then activate the pilot flame with a switch. When you turn the hot water on a bunch of flames jump up and heat the water right away. The water comes in cold on the one side then is very hot on the other. There are no tanks. Well at least ours did not have.

Yep, That's exactly what this thread is about (see image in post 17). Where's the gas tank though?

Wherever you have it stored... you plumb the gas to the heater.

abzo - the gas line runs to your tank which is normally outside.

Outside. We drilled a hole in the wall and fed piping to the gas geyser. The gas bottles are in a shaded enclosure outside.

Looks great.
Just don't get a short in the electrical system and fry yourself.

Those gas ones work really well, a few places in the berg have them. First time I saw one I was sceptical until I scolded myself :D

So why aren't they more common?

I think wayyyy back when electrical geysers were the norm, it was more of a cost saving to have them in. Obviously times and the electricity price has changed. So perhaps more people will move over.
