Quoted R2000.00 per month to insure a 2007 Hyunda Getz by Santam! :mad:
 
My friend was quoted R2600 a month for a Peugeot 207.

How old are you, it depends a lot on that?
 
I'm 28 drive a Clubcab V6 and pay just over R 600 a month. You guys must be doing something very wrong :confused:
 
Thats ridicules, try giving Heritage a call. I get good service from them, even when my car got hit by a low flying double bed.
 
Maybe that could be sort of why?

Not too clued up on insurance. But been learning a bit about it since my iPhone got stolen :(
 
How long have you been insured? When I first got insurance the 3 years I spent as a regular driver on someone else's insurance counted for a lot.

as if you turn responsible on your 25th bday. i know it didn't happen to me
 
shop around directly through the insurers and also try brokers like psg konsult as some of them operate closed schemes which carry lighter premiums if you qualify. my wife is paying 400pm on a bmw 118i thorugh psg and shes 25. outsurance quoted her 1200pm.

WOW - you must be deemed one helluva risk to them - what's your insurance history like? At 25 the premiums drop considerably so I can only imagine what the quote would be if you were a little younger...:eek:
 
I was quoted at R1800+ on my Honda, but ended up paying R900, with some property insurance and a no-excess thrown in.

Try to insure it with property, it's usually much cheaper. Even if you don't "own" the property.
 
Skip the whole thing and just insure your valuables yourself! Insurance is a business like any other. Actually not, because you won't find other businesses that are only looking to make 3 - 4% profit
 
I have a 4x4 (business insurance) and 2 Opels (private) insured with Santam for about R2k a month oh and this includes household, buildings and liability.

Eish, I'm 22 and I pay R500 for a 2000 Corsa 1.6 from Outsurance, :D

Seems I got a good price!

Also Outsurance told me it's 25 years of age OR 5 years driving experience (IE. if you have your license less than 5 years you also get a higher premium)

I claimed 4 days ago for the first time, went through no problem, they told me the premium is going up tho.

Excess was R2300 :(
