Insurance Insanity!

I've got a 2003 Golf 4 2.0 Highline and only pay R500 including house hold insurance. I am going through Hollard Insurance.

I phoned Outsurance and they asked me 1800 and 1000 Excess so I tuned wow that is more than my car a month. He asked me for what I am I looking for and I told him I was looking at R600 a month and he tuned me that my excess would be R25 000 I just said okay and put the phone down.

Paying now R618 from mooirivier makelaars Toyota tazz 2006 model.

That's more than a Ferrari's excess. It doesn't add up - either you heard wrong or he struggles to read decimal places...

Out(rages)surance

shop around directly through the insurers and also try brokers like psg konsult as some of them operate closed schemes which carry lighter premiums if you qualify. my wife is paying 400pm on a bmw 118i thorugh psg and shes 25. outsurance quoted her 1200pm.
Thanks, I will try them.

AA quoted me R1500, I must say their cover comes with a lot of fringe benefits and a low excess. But still too high for me.

For my Corsa OPC I was quoted R1800 (excl. the cost of a compulsory Tracker) for comprehensive cover. I'm 25, but have no insurance history (as my previous car was insured under my folks' insurance)

OUTsurance is crazy, seems like they need all the money to pay for their TV ads.

You can say that again. A 28 year old friend was quoted R2500pm + R2k access for a 2001 Golf 4 GTI  He's had his license for 8 years and this is his 2nd car. No claims in all 8 years!

I was once with Budget Insurance. I was paying about R400 for a citi golf a few years back. Then the 2nd year, they doubled my premiums even though I never claimed for anything! They stated the reason as being the cost of parts for citi golfs were more expensive! I knew she was talking crap, moved over to someone else.

I'm with OutSURANCE and can't believe some of the crazy figures I've seen here. My insurance comes to R590/month on a 2005 Tazz with R2000 excess.

Thought about buying a Mazda 3 a while ago. Outsurance quoted me just over R1800 per month on the 1.6 model. I'm 22 and it would've been my second car.
Auto and General quoted R1300, and another company that I can't remember right now, quoted R1200, which was the cheapest I could find.

insurance are rip offs .
try hippo.co.za , they will get you a few quotes .
try and get an older person to insure it , maybe your mum or dad , they are usually less riskier than 20 year olds.

yeah, but the problem with hippo is that you have to give over all your contact details and agree to be contacted by them, ie. you are selling your soul to the sms spam devil.

i havent used them , just hear them advertising on radio.

i get enough of those sms spam and call centre dudes calling me to sell me insurance .
im so fed up with them , i just leave the phone aside while they talk, eventually they put it down.

Hippo.co.za is a rubbish, you might as well contact, A&G, Budget, Dial Direct, First For Woman, etc... they all belong to the same company, and this company is also the owner of the new "revolutionary tool" called hippo.co.za.

As for OUTsurance, they quoted me R2500/month for my Focus ST, I now pay around R1090/month for the Focus ST, R150 000 household and various other items at Iemas.

The problem with OUTsurance is that they are b@stards, in the sense they only really want to insurance low risk clients. If you are too high risk for they profile they quote over the roof in the hope you won't take it, that way they reduce the risk of having to pay out money on accidents and also improve their own profit as the people are just paying and not claiming that often as they are low risk... although a good friend of mine works there, I told her in her face, I hate OUTsurance :p
