Just go to the store, take ID and proof of residents. Takes about 10 minutes, they are slow.
 
Anyone with this on their accounts what is the service listed as on your invoice.

Walked in. Got the sim. Used an old cell c 3G card Plugged it into my router. Did the setup. And it works.

Also just walked in, got the sim but was told that I only get 5GB/month on the sim. From what I've read online if you're on a soft cap (10Mbps fibre with 100GB Cap) you can use all of it on the sim. It's only the uncapped accounts that have a limit. Will have to query that.

Second issue is that I get max 1Mbps speed out of the sim. Tried my old black Cell C modem but since I read somewhere long ago that the black Cell C modems could not be used at full speed on other networks, I tried to use my old Galaxy pocket to test the speed and it was still a little sucky and could hardly get more than 1Mbps even though signal strength was on HSPA.

This offering was on promotion during 2015 and, due to popular demand, extended to 31 March 2017. During the promotional period, SoftCap Internet accounts were entitled to consume their fixed internet data bundle on mobile and Uncapped accounts were allocated a fair amount of usage.

New data allocation

New data allocations will become applicable from 1 April 2017 and will become default on all SoftCap and Uncapped products. Existing customers will automatically be converted to these new values. Refer to the table below for the amount of mobile data that will be available per Telkom Internet product, at no extra cost to you. You will continue to access your fixed data bundle via your Telkom Internet SIM, but will be limited to the data amounts as indicated below.

Nooo. Just got the mail.

Telkom will soon launch a Telkom Integrated Data product that you will be able to add to your existing Telkom account. The product will allow you to purchase the same amount of data as per you current SoftCap product/data allocation, but specifically for use via a mobile device. You will also be able to Top Up and benefit from preferential rates for out of bundle data purchases. We will soon communicate the details of the product, as well as a launch date.

Wonder what the 'preferential' rates will be.
 
They can keep their crap. This sim was, and still is so slow that I can barely use it. Pop in my 10Gb R199 special and it flies. I mainly used this sim to keep the family from using up the 10Gb bundle ;)
 
does anybody know how much data one gets? is it per linespeed or the amount of dsl data you have?

So what if you have a 20meg line and 100 gigs data. Where does that fall in?

Also what happens if you top up? Do you only get the same amount of data as per the table?

im very confused at this now. So if i top up my data to 100 gigs at R269, do i only get 2 gigs of data or 100 gigs on the top up to use with my sim?

100GB softcap account gets you 2GB mobile data no matter what your line speed is.

If you changed to a 20Mbps Uncapped account you'd get 3GB mobile data.

Portal won't currently let me select topup so I don't know how much they're charging - guess it's going to be a April Fools joke ...

Yeh but if you top up to another 100 gigs, does only 3 gigs get added or 100 gigs to be used on mobile? This is the confusing bit.
