Intel 8th-Gen vs 7th-Gen desktop processors - A big upgrade

Waiting for release, but no real local info.

When will we get to see prices, local release date, etc?

Upgrading my i5 3570k.

More cores at lower clock speeds, I hope IPC was not lowered else the gamers are gonna lose their schit.

The clocks are actually higher. Base clocks aren't representative of what people will see in real world scenarios and we will likely see most applications boost up to 4.7Ghz on all cores (on the 8700k).

I'd love to upgrade my PC but at the same time I'd hate to let my 2500k go...it will be a sad day when she finally dies :(

Anyway lets hope this http://wccftech.com/intel-coffee-lake-8th-gen-core-i7-8700k-performance-specs-leak/ is accurate and wait for the gaming benchmarks.

I still don't see how all cores can boost to 4.7GHz as that is not what I'm used to with TB 2.0

Think I will be going for this one, 4770k need an upgrade.

Will be waiting till the I7-8700 OEM goes on sale for R3000.

I think I will hold on until Cannon Lake is released. I am hopeful that the 10nm process has good gains vs the current 14nm ones available.

Soldier on, faithful little 32nm 2500k :D

Still chugging away on mine as well, stock frequencies and all.

I had mine at 4.0GHz for the most part. Took it up all the way to 5012MHz when I first got it. One singular MHz more and it BSOD'd on me :D

I very recently took it back down to 3.3GHz with the normal boost to 3.7GHz as I had a random system lockup in ARK a while back and haven't been arsed to figure out what it is. It's running under a Corsair H80i so not temps. It may just have been a fluke but I don't really need the extra oomph yet - the only times I can feel the slight OC adding to the performance is at system startup.
