Intel announces USB 4 standard

Intel and the USB Promoter Group have announced the USB 4 standard, which is set to release soon.

It is based on the Thunderbolt protocol and will increase compatibility among USB Type-C connector-based products, said Intel.
 
It was actually sarcasm lol...maybe Im not good at sarcasm..:).
I tend not to follow trends especially with technology.

Na, actually because it is royalty free. Which might actually make Microsoft start implementing this in their Surface line up which i buy yearly. Thunderbolt is needed desperately on them

Yup. Thunderbolt wanted. Nice that you get Surface yearly. I seem to skip a year. Now enjoying a little Surface Go, which is surprisingly capable.

Yeah... And USB was catching up very slow from the beginning. At least 5 years count before first peripherals came out. USB 2.0 was a time when it became a standard PC equipment, but USB 3.0 has still compatibility problems and a bus is critically simplified. By example a raw data transfer is a joke. Firewire had a proper bus design from the beginning and Thunderbolt has learnt on this experience. We really need a better computer peripherals bus.

What I see there is a real Thunderbolt bus with convertors to USB at the end. Very good idea.
