Hi guys I bought the core 2 duo that was on special, this is what I got:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0ghz
ECS LGA775 1066FSB
What's a gigabyte 4in1 system?
Kingmax 1gig DDR2 667MHZ
Hitachi 160 gig 7200RPM SATA2
18X Lightscribe DVD-RW
2 Speakers

All for R 2499 - what do u guys think?

The price seems not too bad, what kind of GPU (screencard) did u get?

Did it include a screen?

I've got a P4 @ the moment which has a 7600gt, 580 gig hard drive, 500w psu which is going to be transferred to the new tower. And no it didn't include the monitor - I've got a 19" lcd

Oh you bought components :)

Well I took a quick look and the cheapest I could get a C2D E4400 for was +-R1k, a cheap motherboard(MSI 945GM5-F) for about R760 and the RAM for R360 (although it's DDR2-800 CL5), the hard-drive for R548 and the DVD-Drive for R323

That's already +-R3K so you got a pretty solid deal ;)

Hmm you might have got the cheaper E2xxx series Core 2's? I wonder what clock they start at.

I'm pretty sure the price was good, because all those prices at PC-Zone were good for their birthday sale. They chose the cheapest components for that system (nothing wrong with them) so it'll be a damn good deal.

If it's a 2Ghz C2D then it can surely only be the E4400? Or did they simply say C2D 2Ghz and then give you any C2D that was 2Ghz or over?

It can now also be the E2180, the new budget Core 2 at 2Ghz. These go for around R870, so you can only hope it was a E4400, though I'm sure the price would be good either way.

That is a Intel Pentium Dual Core, not a Core 2 Duo, although they are both based on the Core 2 architecture the name moniker is different. If it is a Pentium Dual Core then I personally think it can be considered fraud since C2D != Pentium Dual Core but anyway.

The Pentium Dual Core isn't that bad it's still the same as Core 2 Duo, they both run at the same voltage and have the same TDP rating, far as I know the only difference is that Virtualization and that Trusted platform crap is missing, oh just double check it has half the L2 cache, no wonder it's got such a low rating number.

Ag well it's not going to be anything impressive, it's an ECS board which means it's just cheap. Probably nothing wrong with it either..
