Hi All,

My poor mobo seems to have popped it's main dimm slot yesterday. I've sent the board in to axiz and they are subsequently passing it on to Intel as the board is just over 2 years ( gotta love the 3 year warranty ). Anyone have any idea on the turnaround time for something sent to Intel?

Can Axiz not deem it's faulty themselves? :erm: Sounds like this'll take 3 - 5 working days.

Asus/Gigabyte mobos get swapped out immediately by supplier/distributor if faulty. I guess you pay more for good after-sales service.

Actually I think it's due to the boards age... and if I had bought a Gigabyte or Asus board, I'd be looking for a new machine as it would be out of warranty. The fault is a simple one, board posts with 3 beeps irrespective of Ram config, so probably gonna get a refurbished board back.

Asus and Gigabyte have the best 3 year warranties on the market. You thought they were less than 3 years? :)

Anyway good luck. Hope you manage to get a NEW board!

Gigabyte used to be 2 years, can't recall when that changed as I don't really work on the tech sales side anymore for many years but that certainly affected my decision at the time :p

Thanks for the sentiment, I'm just concerned that any new board will require a memory change and I'll be forking out cash for something not "optimal" ie: a settlement so the machine runs rather than a proper config, I'd be happy with. I was eying the Sandy Bridge and new I5's but probably later and with the current bugs happy to hold off a while. Machine was still good for at least a year , I felt.

Gigabyte has been 3 years since at least 3/4 years ago. Could be longer but that's when I started keeping track. :p

There are still quite a few Intel 775/DDR2 boards available (assuming you have this) so doubt RAM would be an issue if they swap out. They also keep old stock for warranty replacements. :)

You could phone Axiz and ask.

With Rectron most of the time it takes a week or less for you to get a replacement, if they don't have stock of the item it may take 1-4 weeks.

It takes about a week, and Intel don't do refurbished boards

Thanks for the responses guys. I dropped it off yesterday so will wait and see. Hooked up the wife's netbook to all the peripherals and using that for now :p

The supplier does an Intel claim with Intel themselves, most distributors like Rectron / Axiz will not keep stock of Intel boards older than 1 year whereas with Gigabyte because it is Rectron's house brand they tend to keep stock for longer either at branch level or at their main depot. Intel claim should not take longer than 48 hours, however if the board is not readily available it can take up to a week.

Okay I'm just going to bump this thread as I've got an Intel board that's bit the dust and still in warranty BUT I'm struggling to locate the original supplier. Is there any resource that I could use to track it down? Thanks.

I just had to look :p

But seriously, try the main agents for your area : Axiz, Rectron etc. Also see if there isn't possibly a secondary barcode sticker somewhere on the board, I recall those two suppliers used to stick their own on as well. Worst case, contact Intel directly.
