What hype? We've had several cold fronts already this winter, and while temps dropped, there were not really any disastrous situations... for the most part.
I don't see any hype in this article, seems like just a normal routine winter warning.

For many it is a first world problem, but ask those in shacks how they dealt with the last heavy rain in Cape Town

Wind is pumping but it's not particularly cold.

On the plus side perhaps those hideous wind farms might earn their keep today.

Durbanville isn't colder than any other winters day. I think it was the heavy rain during peak traffic and that will be it.

I see it is -2 degrees at the observatory just outside Sutherland at the moment. Snow has also fallen there.
