Intermittent Fasting

Ah sometimes the difficulties of getting back into it. had my mate over for 5 days, which included:
Chili crab, butter chickens, wagyu steaks, bak ku teh, pizza, rum, whiskey, copious amounts of beer at all times of the day, probably put on like 1-2kgs in these few days.

Now i sit on a Wednesday, its 2:00pm. I'm starving. I want to eat all the bad food in the world.
I shall see it through and get back into the good ways!

Yes, this is very much a lifestyle choice, for me, the easiest lifestyle choice you can make to improve eating habits, weight loss, save money and help heal your body. Its so simple, just don't eat :D

Agree'd on the cheat days, its good to mix it up so your body doesn't get into the predictable routine, in the end, 1 day eating mcdonalds and pizza is not gonna do anything, just jump back on it tomorrow. What i like is that you don't have to go out of your way by prepping and cooking special meals or depriving yourself of something you want like diets force you to.

When do you guys weigh yourselves?
I came in to the habbet of weighing every Friday morning and I assume now that I'm fasting that time will still be fine since it's slap bang in the middle of a fasting period? I'm doing 16/8, eating from 12 in the afternoon till 20:00 at night.

An interesting look at the metabolic effect of IF.

Interesting that eating earlier rather than later may be beneficial.

https://www.dietdoctor.com/when-we-eat-is-as-important-as-what-we-eat-and-this-is-why

Very interesting study.

What is also amazing is that so many people will not believe a word of it. This is because the article - backed by research - says that WHEN you eat matters. As much if not more than WHAT you eat. This is against what many people believe, which is that a calorie is a calorie is a calorie.

EDIT: That eating schedule is interesting, but I don't think it will really work for me. Referring to eating between 8AM and 2PM. Reason I say that is that most days I am in the office at that time. I can't bring 3 meals worth of food into the office with me!

These days, when I go into the office, I fast until supper time. So until I get home, about 6PM. Then I eat until about 8PM.

I'm trying it (18:6) for insulin control (self diagnosed insulin resistance) and weight loss.

I used to adhere to a strict ketogenic diet but I want to stop eating meat and doing keto without meat is not a thing I want to face.

Anyone got any experience/tips with IF?

I really won't recommend leaving meat on IF. You need fat to help keep your hunger levels down. If anything cutting down your Veggies short term will help you get off your insulin resistance.

i have been doing 19+hr fasts almost everyday, Then maybe 4-5 hr eating window.Weekends maybe 16:8, longest was 40hrs as i was testing my will. . Slow start as the scale wasn't moving. this week there was a move.

Still constantly hitting the 18:6 time frame during the week. Weekends not so much though.

Work routine makes it so much easier to stick to it. While weekend with the kids being a challenge at times.

Yeah it's super easy skipping breakfast during the week. Gonna try go through to dinner every now & then.

I quite like intermittent fasting, I feel a lot more energetic now that I have been doing it regularly.

I can do dinner to anytime after 12pm the next day but only during the week. Weekends is too difficult. My weight stays constant though.

18:6 means 8PM to 2PM.
I'm usually starving by 12.

Had to have some sweet baked goods for a farewell at work yesterday and nearly fell asleep at the desk afterwards.

Hey, I wanted to ask you guys is it alright to eat out while on diet? I have seen in one guide that popular restaurants offer low carb meals. restaurant guide

This is the IF thread, so if you eat within your designated eating window.... Why not?

I did this for about a month to two months.

I lived off coffee and 2x energy bars a day.

My record is losing 1.7kg's in 5 days.

It was awesome and I felt great. I got really skinny though, but I had energy, felt fine.
