I'm on a 4mbps line with openweb and I'm experiencing a very intermittent connection. It goes off about once every 3 minutes or so. I've contacted Telkom numerous times and they just say the line is fine so I was wondering if anyone else in the Pretoria East area ( Die Wilgers, Lynnwood, Faerie Glen) is experiencing the same issue.

Same here in Menlo Park: bad this morning, even worse this afternoon. Telkom denies any knowledge of the problem.

I had the same issue two months ago in Durban - they made me buy a new router and still had the same issue.

I constantly done speed test and found spikes of 20MB on a 4Mb download line - took screen shots and had my proof. Apparently these speed spikes cause interference with the router that re-set it. Also found that I struggled to login to my router.

Might not be the same issue, maybe yes

I've had exactly the same issue as discussed. After trying everything from new adsl filters other ISP's, I finally fixed the issue by replacing my Telkom Duoplus WR300 modem with a D-link DSL-2500U. I did quite a bit of research into this and apparently this D-link modem has a Broadcom adsl chipset which provides a more stable connection, especially if you are a long way from the exchange. The D-link DSL-2500U only costs about R250 so we'll worth the investment if you're having connection issues!

Hi There,
I assume that you have replaced filters and tried another modem to see if the issue is resolved?
I would look at that first even borrowing a router from a friend for the night.
What has openweb said?

It may also assist if you could post your line stats here for comment.

Regards

Tim

Hi guys. Just a quick update, I know it's been a while since I started the thread but eventually I just cancelled my Openweb subscription and switched to Mweb. Haven't had the connection problem since. Thanks for all the replies
