My home PC on MWEB uncapped is showing as dead on LogMeIn.....
While our IS business uncapped account at the office is unable to access certain sites, like Gmail....
seems like a big one....

It appears that the failure is a terrestrial segment of the SEA-ME-WE-4 cable system near Alexandria in Egypt. Sounds like it will be fairly quick to fix.

Terrestrial cable sounds hopeful, but traffic will be very slow until it is fixed...

Using IS. International buggered [-]till about few minutes back. HTTP downloads jumped from ~2KB/s to 20KB/s - still a wee bit patchy.[/-]

Check the TENET-SEACOM graph (still down at 10.00am). Until that is up, other ISP's may also be erratic:

My internet has been iffy the whole week here at Stellenbosch University. Monday afternoon our internet went down, back up again on Tuesday (but I was only getting 8 Mb/s rather than my usual 80 Mb/s). Then Wednesday it was just dropping packets left right and center and now it comes on for 5 minutes at a time. They should just declare it a national holiday seeing as noone can get any work done anyhow.
