IRC (internet relay chat) related problem.
First off, sorry if this has been asked/answered before, search on this forum does not support three letter words such as IRC and google was of no use.
When I connect through SAIX (lantic shaped adsl), I can't connect to any international IRC servers (I have tried a few, e.g. freenode - different servers and ports), but local servers work fine. Whenever it does connect, the latency is unbearable and I often get disconnected.
On Axxess prepaid semi-shaped adsl (IS, I think), international IRC works fine.
I use the lantic service until my cap runs out, so this whole thing is a bit of a pain.
Has anyone had/solved this problem? Should I be using a proxy for international IRC? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
