International SAIX Problems

I have no problem with SAIX international (shaped and unshaped) at the moment. I did however have problems when I switched to my Verizon unshaped account (huge delays while doing videoconferencing).

**International Problemo**

Greetings,

I am not sure if there is something wrong with the International link, but there is something definately wrong with the Telskum ADSL DNS servers. They appear to be down & not allowing connections my 'puter is therefore unable to resolve international names. Interestingly enough, Skype works 100% & seems to be able to bypass whatever problems may exist. Now, this is what I call a 'self-healing' application!?!

Failure Type : Network Failure
Problem Description : All customers connecting to Bronberg ESR 2 might experience international connectivity issues.

Impact : ADSL user.
Time Down : 10 Jun, 2007 at 19:55:00 (SAT) Time Up : None Sites : Bronberg Services Affected : ADSL users Update Description : Our Techs busy attending

It depends which router you connect thru

Flip it, I was having hassles last night at home. I connect using the Netgear DG384GT and could not get access.
I was using 196.43.46.190 and 196.43.38.190 as DNS address.

saix DNS servers

Greetings,

I am not sure if it is related, but saix seem to be blocking domains hosted on dynamic dns servers.

At this time, my own dns server tells me fred.dyndns.org. is 24.200.81.61. Both sangoma.saix.net. and igubu.saix.net. return no A record. Ditto for some clients who have dynamic dns on ddns.zaisp.net.

Anyone else see this?

I've been having very bad international connectivity in Bloem for most of the day; eMusic.com downloads time-out, Amazon.com & co.uk gives blank pages a lot of the time, but the local sites A-OK. SAIX noticeboard says nothing...

Same here, northern subs of Cape Town. International SAIX is basically dead. The sites either load extremely slow, or there's no response and it times out.

What is going on? SAIX international has been on the meltdown for a few days now. No official comment by anyone on the situation?

WebAfrica support told me there was some sort of an outage in Cape Town. When I enter www.latimes.com it takes 1 min 15 secs just to start loading the site. Then another 40 secs or so to load the site. Normally it takes 2/3 secs to load.

I've been battling in Joburg all day - no connection errors, just slow speeds.

I'm having SAIX problems in Randburg.

Both a Telkom Internet and a WebAfrica account are refusing to accept or send any traffic - international or local. They do connect and retrieve an IP address, though.

Happening now, and happened last night, although it worked fine earlier today.

My local-only IS account from WebAfrica seems to be working fine.

... In fact it's working better than fine. It's loading international sites. Bloody quickly, too.

I can never understand South African internet...
