International Slow

No worries guys, as much as you do - I also want a silky smooth internet connection up and running :)
I'd personally go fix it, but the water is faaaar too cold to go for a swim now. Hopefully I can post an ETR sometime soon!

SAT-3 cable repair vessel still on-site running cable repairs. Still no ETR as yet. A huge thanks for everyone's patience

Well everything seems fine on my Afrihost 4mb Uncapped, running at full speed. NZBs and Youtube.

There was problems? been downloading and gaming fine with mweb...

Wish we could bring more updates to the table guys. Or even better an ETR.
None as yet unfortunately, I can tell you though that we've been working non-stop on securing additional capacity for our fail-over links in an effort to minimise the impact.
No further updates are expected for tonight, should have some news by tomorrow.

Still pretty happy with my TI 1024 uncapped account....

While rumours of a break in SA's primary connection sources, including Seacom and SAT3, did the rounds, Telkom confirmed there is no cable break on SAT3.
“A planned maintenance event is, however, in progress on the Europe-India-Gateway (EIG) cable between Portugal and Gibraltar. Traffic from cables landing in Portugal and extended via EIG to London or Europe will be impacted by the EIG maintenance intervention.”

...
Internet Solutions (IS) confirmed connectivity issues being experienced today could be traced to undersea cable maintenance.
Mark Hamburger, business development manager of connectivity at IS, says the maintenance has impacted the service of an upstream provider.
I don't understand that it can be called a fault or be damaged since it was planned maintenance? Even Telkom says it is not a cable break. Internet Solutions says it is maintenance.

I have this feeling WA are posting BS.

We've noted a drastic improvement on international capacity as well as latency. An official update will follow once we receive confirmation from our upstream providers.

SAT3 saw issues from 4am on Friday 29 June.... "Maintenance" notice posted after 5am... doesn't really seem planned to me :p

must be shoot from the hip maintenance to fix previous shooting from hip.

No official word of a proper resolution just yet, so the last update still stands.
Our upstream providers and engineers are still monitoring traffic slowly. My home connection is looking much better, haven't tried gaming yet so I've only noticed NNTP being a bit slower than usual.

As soon as feedback lands in my inbox I'll have it posted up.
What a weekend....

Evening all.
Got some good news :) SAT-3 capacity is back up and running at 100%

Our upstream providers are still monitoring the situation though, so we'll keep this as a listed "outage" for the moment. I'm sure by tomorrow things will return to normal. Further tweaks or repairs may still take place until further notified.
On that note, I'm off to sleep - will post up some feedback tomorrow morning.

Thanks again for everyones patience!

Hi All,

We can confirm that the cable has been restored and is up and running as per normal.

Unfortunately maintenance will continue to be done on the Europe - India gateways between Portugal and Gibraltar. This is expected to be completed on the 5th July 2012.

We'll be monitoring the cable extremely closely and inform everyone of any issues as they arise.

Suddenly its the "Europe - India gateways" and not "SAT3". WA, what have you been smoking?
