International SMS???

Don't download. Just click the arrow and register. So far it's working great for me.

Ahhh - thanks - working now. Quite a cool interface - I see you can also d/load an icon to the desktop which automatically starts the interface (got it from the Australian site) Pity you can't import your contact numbers from the PC.

It's got the same sort of interface as SMSPOP had

Did anyone ever play with that?

smsbug

On the mobisms website some networks charge 2 credits per sms. According to the website charges VC/MTN/CC all charge 1 credit, but when I tested it on VC it cost 2 credits. So cost is (R0.27X2)+R0.02=R0.56. VC must have changed to protect their SMS bundle sales. But considering that I mostly send international SMS, and after testing costs only the one credit, I now pay R0.29 compared to VC's rate of R1.74:D

Okay, well smsbug charges me 1 credit (@about 27c/credit) for sms to most intl destinations, including sa networks.

Try www.smsbug.com

My post was aimed at international sms.

And anyhow, how long does MTN sms bundles tae to expire?
SMSBug never expires

Okay well then I would agree that SMSBug is a better option to go for then, as our sms bundles don't carry over either

Definately only uses 1 credit - tested it to VC and MTN and both only 1 credit. Check your delivery reports settings - make sure it is none or e-mail

SMS Status: Message Received
To: 2782*******
Time: 2006-09-08 10:21:01 GMT
Charge: 2
Message:
Test message

Current credit: 186

The Mobi Wireless team thanks you for using mobiSMS.

I received the above report via e-mail

VC's latest bundles make sms as cheap as 22.5c. But these expire montly and are only for national sms:( . So I will be sticking with mobiwireless mobisms @ 1/6 the cost of international sms:D and the bundles don't expire:D

What happened to mtnsms.com btw? Heard at the time it had something to do with Telkom charging a duty on every intl sms sent.

Probably only applies to certain countries where they have sponsors. Maybe this will expand as time goes on.

What where the failed country codes?

Mine was 37 for Lithuania.
Also I sent a test sms to my own number. It said sent on the webpage, but I didn't receive it on my phone:confused:
Sms also limited to 120 characters:(

I've sent plenty to both MTN and Voda. Haven't tried C or Virgin. I've also tried radio stations but no comment has been made re my sms, but that may just be because they aren't worth commenting on rather than not being received :) . I also find that MTN sms can take hours to get through, so maybe your one is just delayed. Maybe you should try a few times, to other numbers as well.
