During the evening/night intl became slower and sloppier by the minute ...finally stopped working. Waited a few minutes, came back on ... went down again. OK, clearly IS having probs again.
Switched from Afrihost (IS) to Telkom (SAIX), worked for a while ... stopped too :(

WTF is going on here?

Seriously, can't our providers see we're paying extremely high rates and therefore should expect extremely good service? Not the extremely poor crap they're feeding us.

Can't they see it is for a reason we're online at 3am?

Can't they see the internet doesn't keep office hours and won't wait for poor SAfricans to get their act together?

I'm expected by a bunch of people to meet them online right NOW. Not the african "nownow" but the "now" like the rest of the world understands it!

The only thing I always thought SAfrican companies did rather well was advertising. But after watching the latest Telkom TV ad ('Next generation internet' or such) I'm not even too sure about that anymore.

Not a happy camper

My international connection (IS via OpenWeb) was working fine and still is. I haven't been downloading, just browsing and fiddling on the Amazon EC2 via SSH.

I don't know what is more annoying - a download failing or a terminated SSH session.

Dont you guys think this is so ironic?

Weekend all time full speed line and we get nailed?

Idiots!!!

dudley...

I just phoned telkom (0800375375) asked for a port reset.
Seemed to solve my problems...

I'm back to full speed.
Give it a try.

yeah, i've already done that, thx, for the tip. Doesnt seem to have helped. Maybe he didnt do it correctly, will try again later, for now though I'm more or less back to normal
