I recently upgraded to new motherboard, Ram and CPU. it's all AMD except my gfx card. So i installed Vista Ultimate 64bit. But now i get a strange problem.

My Internet Browsers stop working after a while, almost like they are not responding but they kinda still are. It's not browser related since i would start buy using firefox until it stops working, then go to chrome then the same things happens. it's like that with any browser even internet explorer.

I 1st thought i might be because its 32bit app's working on a 64bit os, but after i downloaded a 64bit version of firefox apparently it's called Shiretoko. but since java don't operate in 64bit, i can't view anything java related with it, plus the same not responding problem occurs with that too.

I know it's not my internet connection because i can update my virus program do some online gaming with now problem at all.

I suspect it might be something to do with AMD and 64bit vista. I noticed a strange thing in my task manager when 32bit firefox and chrome stop working:

The App appears more than once in the task manager and uses different amount of memory, which is kinda strange i think. Plus if my try and end process then all goes except one.

The same thing happens with my my firefox 32bit. but the 64bit just stops working.

If anyone knows what the problem is it could be helpful. Oh and the only way i can start browsing again is if i restart my pc.

P.S i would really like to stay with firefox, because with web developing i like using firebig, fireftp and codeburner which are very nice add-ons for firefox.

Thank YOU! :)

For more info on my pc specs just ask what you need to know :)

peace!

Hey ,

I really don't think their is a solution for it other then rather switching back to 32Bit and reading up on PAE on Windows will make 32Bit support over 3GB of RAM also Vista eww , get Windows 7 or UPGRADE to XP rofl , also try Opera and see if it does the same if neither works download Spybot and scan your PC for Spyware/Malware....

All i can think of

Some script may not be responding that needs administrative rights.

Try to Right-click your browser shortcut->Run as Administrator...

Chrome is multithreaded so will appear several times in Task Manager, depending on how many tabs you have open.
Do you have the same sites open when the browsers stop working?

ZAPortal:
thanks guys for responding :) lol i never liked vista, but vista ultimate is a bit better i must admit, i mainly got it because of dx10 :D and 64bit is beginning to annoy me but it is so much better when the application supports it! whoop! i will wait for windows 7 a bit more. coz for now that elite launch edition i think its called is a no go. my friend had it after vista ultimate 64bit and he says it ran slower, and he has quite the monsterous pc. but anyways...

Vatso:
i will try that! sounds like that could be a reason. strange why it does so on all the browsers though.

Random717:
thats makes sense :D no its totally random and its with stable sites such google and etc. even stranger is it does the same even when working offline.

The fact that the browser works okay after re-booting suggests that it is getting bogged down, maybe by spyware. Try a spyware/adware scan: Spybot or Malwarebytes are good scanners to use. Do let us know when the problem is sorted - it can help others in the same situation.

I installed both Malwarebytes and Spybot. got the latest updates and etc. did a scan with both of them but found no spy or malware. nice to know :D

Oh and i added Adblock on FF have yet to test it, will let you know if it worked :)
