Internet clamp down warning in Britain

Clamping down on the internet is like trying to hold water in your fist. The harder you squeeze the the more will slip through your fingers.

It would be sad if this happened. This would make them no better than the worst totalitarian regimes. The Internet is just a medium, just as the telephone, post or carrier pigeon was before. You can shut down the medium but people will just switch to another to communicate.

Exactly.. it's amazing how the use of social media with organizing these and other protests(good and bad) took off. Started off in the middle east and now getting used in europe and england. Chinese i think the only ones to block it from the get go. I'm curious how the americans will handle it when it happens there

The Internet is not the problem and does not need to be fixed.
The problem is a lack of discipline in the lives of the current generation going back two decades or more.
Fix that rather.

Agreed. But this lack of discipline is a result of many changes in society including globalisation, urbanisation, individualism, abandoning of the traditional family unit, and the western public's adoption of an attitude which frowns upon many traditional parenting methods.
Simply put.. it's quite difficult to fix in the current world when many don't see the underlying problems. Although the British riots have certainly highlighted some of these.
