So, I've seen the issue come up with a lot of people and followed advice on those posts, but still have problems.
I used to get disconnects every few hours (sometimes a few times within an hour). I contacted Telkom, techie came out, said there was static on the line (he somehow managed to sort this out, and the static was gone). Connection, stable for a few hours, but it still drops. I previously had a Netgear DG834GUv5, got my hands on a Netgear DGN2200 and the line stats seem slightly better (these are the DGN2200 stats):

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Link Rate 1024 Kbps 512 Kbps
Line Attenuation 19.5 dB 11.5 dB
Noise Margin 26.1 dB 13.0 dB

I still get random disconnects every few hours (longest time connected was about 32 hours), but today had about 3 disconnects within the space of 2 hours. Any ideas on what could be the problem? I have tried multiple ISPs, so I've ruled that out.

I had the same problems got myself a Billion BiPac VGP4 Router and problem was solved (Price R999.00)

If you don't have any issues with the wireless of that DGN2200, then you can always just get a cheap D-Link DSL-2500U for like R250 and use that as the ADSL modem and your DGN2200 as the WiFi AP/switch.

Don't go near the D-Link. It really is the worst thing I have ever used. Even a Billion is better. Rather get a TP-Link

Do you have a filter on your line?
