[Solved] Internet connection through cellphone not working anymore

I have an Acer Aspire One netbook with Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Alpha 4. I used to be able to connect through my Nokia 5800 (on usb cable) without any problems on default settings which were automatically created during the first connect. Now, Ubuntu tells me "GSM disconnected" about 1 second after trying to connect, and my phone switches off by itself.
I figure the problem is either with an Ubuntu update that caused it to stop working, or Vodacom changed their internet connection settings. I think it's something to do with Ubuntu. I've removed the connection and created a new one but no luck. I know Karmic is a pre-release with several bugs to iron out, but can someone maybe help me with this?

I have found that Blueman is a better way to manage your Bluetooth DUN connections in Ubuntu. Google, add the repos and install.

It has served me well for almost 2 years now and integrates very well with Ubuntu's Networking Setup.

Thanks a lot, it works perfectly! No more cable for me. I had a bit of a hiccup with version 1.10 (can't enable bluetooth again after I disabled it) so I installed the daily build which has some improvements, such as a device-specific traffic counter. Handy!

I believe the 1.10 has a hiccup with the bluez version that Ubuntu currently uses. I froze my bluez at 3 but if you say the daily build works well I'll have a look at it, thanks.

Also look into vnstat. Great way to do traffic monitoring with our damn expensive rates.

The traffic monitor in the newest version works well to check usage. You'll find it under the right-click menu of the icon. Enable it under the Plugins menu first.
