Has anyone ever tried this? How'd it turn out?

It recently came to my attention that quite a few people I know met their girlfriend/boyfriend/fiance/husband/wife through the Internet and they are genuinely happy. In the past I used to see it as hopeless, but this is obviously no longer the case.

What are you thoughts?
 
Met a couple of people through the internet. One fantastic person, handful of good people.. and then some real psychos.

Do you mean you met them romantically?
 
I know people who've met past and present partners through internet dating sites. One site that seems to work well is OkCupid. They have a very good matching system.
 
ive been on hot or not....something about half matches or double matches?? dunno how it works though...

True ... and the percentages are something like 1% genuinly fantastic person, 19% good people and 80% psychos ...
 
Seems less prevalent here than in my circle of IRL friends :/
 
I met my wife on an internet dating site. However I must stress that I was almost conned out of my money from psychos and other miscreants on the dating sites. So when I met her I quit completely and decided that this was it. I am quite happy I must say.
